Then when you install the app it will tell you that chrome.set is being replaced. This is needed to make the app work properly. Here's what the app does. 1. Speaks alert messages, such as download progress and completion. When a file is downloaded the message from Chrome is to press Shift+F6 to go to the download bar. 2. I added Alt+N because it's quicker and the key combination used in Internet Explorer to go to the notification bar for the same purpose. All it's doing is inserting Shift+F6. And it's not tied to the notification. So if you happen to press it without a file downloaded it will just put you up in the address bar. F6 will put you back in the main window. 3. Suggestions entered in the address bar as you type will be spoken. For example, if you type yo, YouTube.com will probably be voiced. These are just pulled out of your history. When you hear the right address just press enter. Unfortunately because you come in on the address bar when Chrome opens, and it doubles as a Google search field, you'll hear everything you type repeated as you type it if there are no suggestions. Obviously there's no way I can tell what you're typing or if it's in your history. Also, the suggestions might not be heard when you first open Chrome. The reason I replaced the set file is so that I could set keyboard interrupt to program scope. Then I set it to control and alt only when you're in the address bar and back to whatever you had it set to when you're not in the address bar. The problem is I have to monitor for the chrome.set file to be loaded before grabbing it. And the stars might not line up in time if you open chrome and start typing immediately. Although you'll probably hear a little snippet of the suggestion. Then you can use the read line hot key to see what's there. And finally, I didn't put error reporting in the app because it uses the GW-Micro App Central server. Re: question about foreground staging
Hi Carol, Going to the desktop is how I take care of the foreground staging screen too. And I usually don't see it again. Although it does pop up once in a while. And it certainly hasn't caused any problems. I only see it when I'm on the desktop anyway, after boot, waking, or having had gone to the desktop before transferring files to a thumb drive. All I can think of is to use Windows+D instead of Windows+M if that's what you use. It's all I do. Hi Tom, Ok, so the URL for Dennis Long's email list subscription page which I sent you got messed up by my Outlook email screener too. So, here's what you can search for on google to find it. Windoweyesusers It is a groups.io list, and so you should have no problem finding it. Alternatively, here's the URl in which I have place parentheses around the http prefix so that Outlook won't convert it and mess it up: (http)s://groups.io/g/WindowEyesUsers All the best, Rod Sent from Outlook for Windows -Original Message- From: Talk On Behalf Of Tom Kingston via Talk Sent: March 29, 2019 11:23 AM To: Window-Eyes Discussion List Cc: Tom Kingston Subject: Didn't someone create an alternative to this list? Hi Tom, Thanks for troubling to create this app. Unfortunately, my Outlook mail screen has blocked your URL. I'm wondering if you could convert it to a bitly or tinyurl to shorten it so that I can get access. I appreciate it. Also, here's the subscription page for Dennis Long's alternative email list: http://bit.ly/2Uba9iw All the best, Rod Sent from Outlook for Windows -Original Message- From: Talk On Behalf Of Tom Kingston via Talk Sent: March 29, 2019 11:14 AM To: Window-Eyes Discussion List Cc: Tom Kingston Subject: Here's an app for the Chrome browser. First, make sure you have the factory settings for Chrome installed. You can see if they're installed and install them if not by opening the Window-Eyes control panel, Alt+F File, F factory Settings. So if you have any problems you can email me at tom.kings...@charter.net You can also open the Window-Eyes control panel, Alt+A Apps, App management, App manager, select the app, press Alt+H to open Help and Options, then press the About button. There's a Contact author button in there. And of course you can post any problems here. Hope this is helpful. https://eur01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dropbox.com%2Fs%2Fj2co234uo3duwjo%2Fchrome.wepm%3Fdl%3D1data=02%7C01%7C%7Cc4d6ae17ab9f4db1b86b08d6b4593a68%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435%7C1%7C0%7C636894692649241800sdata=18PUbE55TsFQhcQc5MQRoddoqD%2FqYRXw6Q8h8muTF6E%3Dreserved=0 ___ Any views or opinions presented in this email are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Ai Squared.
