Re: a possibly corrupt Window-eyes script
Hello Rod, I wanted to save the message you sent me about the qpps which caused trouble to WinEyes but somehow I lost it. I hope it's no too much trouble to resend that message. Very sorry for the inconvenience I'm causing.. -Original Message- From: Rod Hutton via Talk Sent: Saturday, September 12, 2020 10:55 AM To: Window-Eyes Discussion List Cc: Rod Hutton Subject: RE: a possibly corrupt Window-eyes script Hi Don, I am not certain why Outlook.EXE is involved and producing a script error. The actual app which supports Windows Live Mail is WindowsLiveMail.wepm. I recently reinstalled Windows Live Mail, the ribbon version, which seems to be working well. However, I believe the Outlook Express script for window-eyes is corrupt. Whenever I attempt to modify an email rule, I get kicked back into the open message rather than the folders tab opening as it should so I should be able to down arrow to the message rules tab and modify the rule. Sorry if I didn’t verbalize the problem well. Stated another way, when I have an open email message and want to create or modify an email rule, I cann’t open the folders option or any of the other options such as accounts, view, file, etc. So what I want to do is to reinstall the appropriate default script whose name I don’t recall. I recall that there is a way to do this from within Window-eyes, but I don’t recall how to do it. Please refresh my memory. By the way, the version number is of course 9.5.4. Thanks. Re: Win 10 And WE 9.5.4
Hello Rod, Thanks so much for the list of apps. I asked because a friend of mine had much trouble using WE on her Windows 10 computer, whereas I have had no trouble using it on my Windows 8.1 computer. Thanks again. On my current system, which runs the latest version of Windows 10, this is no longer true. Without exception, every default Window-Eyes app is running here. A few months back, someone had written to this list with the news that they had even gotten an app update from the Window-Eyes server. No doubt, this was because they had an outdated app, but I recall being very surprised to hear that app updates where available from the old Window-Eyes server. I know for certain that there was a time when the Window-Eyes app update server was not active. My guess is that there is some guardian angel or angels keeping Window-Eyes working for the many people throughout the world who need it. I am one of those who need it. I have yet to find any other screen reader which allows me to manage the connection and disconnection of attached devices between the host and virtual machines on the current version of VMWare Workstation. Indeed, this is very surprising to me, that is, that I cannot get Jaws or NVDA or Narrator to focus those device icons, but the truth is before me, and so I am saved by Window-Eyes. Also, I have yet to find a screen reader which is as perky reading email in Outlook which is part of Microsoft 365. Microsoft 365 is the new name of Office 365, the subscription-based Office product. The Office Enhance and Outlook Enhance Window-Eyes apps work perfectly to allow me to read and write in Outlook. So, Tom, I simply want to suggest that you don't give up on Window-Eyes.
