if you look at the sma cost as this it might not be so bad it's $5 a month

Not to be contrary, I've been a Jaws user at home for over three years and
love it after being a devoted Window-Eyes user since almost day one.

I used Jaws for a number of years at work. But, when they offered a great
home use program, I jumped at the chance and was glad that I did even
though I hated to see Window-Eyes go.

My personal feeling is that one is better served by having access to more
than one screen reader as well as learning more than one internet browser.
Praise the Lord that we have choices.

I will say that these upgrades to these products gets rather expensive.
Not blaming Freedom Scientific. But, when you have a family and/or you
also have other interests or needs, even the sma program becomes another
cost that requires budget juggling.

Also, with Jaws you can make the insert key a "Sticky" key. That way you
hit insert and take your finger off and use the same hand to reach
another.

jaws can be unloaded with insert or capslock and f4 keys
you can change the jaws key from the insert key to the capslock key two
ways.

by changeing to the laptop layout.
or if useing the desktop layout you can go to the settings center then to
keyboard and insert keys i think its called and change between the insert

I realize that you can't speak for others, and that each of us has
different needs, priorities, and biases, but I wonder why why some find
Jaws to be clunky while others (such as you) are quite satisfied. I
wonder if using "outdated" software (such as Windows-7) contributes to
the problem.

That said, while I took advantage of the Jaws offer, I have yet to
migrate to Jaws and have yet to download Windows-10. Things are running
smoothly and I hate to rock the boat. The other issue which makes me
hesitate is Jaws' reliance on the insert key. I use a left-handed
keyboard with the microsoft feature Sticky Keys and have never really
understood how to incorporate the insert feature with the caps lock key,
but I digress.

there's another way i can think of.
get a cookies or history or whatever cleaner for your computer.
all you need to do is to tell what to exclude from cleaning, like this
particular website, i want to keep it, the rest, just wipe clean.
it will activate itself when you close the browser but you will need that
program to run in the background to monitor when you close or open the
browser. it can be set in a schedule which can clean at a certain amount of
time.

tracks eraser pro. of course there's a lot of program out there as well but
this is what i used to use.

or even, write some scripts to do that kind of task.

its still back to one thing, what you want to do, how much you feel
comfortable doing it.

Hi Dennis and all:

When I reread my post on this subject, I realize that it might have been a
little, or verry, confusing, so to clarify, If you sign out of your gmail
account and then close your browser, then the next time you go to the gmail
website, then it will not log you directly into your account, it will
probably ask you for your password, I tried it a couple of days ago just to
make sure.
Anyway, the other posts that people have added to this conversation are
excellent ideas, so you have several options to try.

Yes it does that for me how insteading of leaving me off at the listing I
was on it goes to the top of the page. If there 10 results on a page and I

I have seen this, particularly on Amazon -- I think WE thinks the page has
changed. So, when on the result you want, just shift-f10 and open in new
window -- that always works for me.

But if the page has changed it would be impossible or vry difficult to fix,
and with Amazon and other places this may be the case. I know its a pain
but at least that will get the job done.

RE: Introducing Virtual View 5.0

2015-11-04 Thread Dennis via Talk
How do we get this?

-Original Message-
From: Talk [mailto:talk-bounces+dennisl1982=gmail@lists.window-eyes.com]
On Behalf Of Aaron Smith via Talk

Subject: Introducing Virtual View 5.0

Virtual View 5.0 now supports exciting new features such as the ability to
OCR images from files or the screen, plus virtualizing various document
formats, including PDF files. Here are some other features:

* You can open an image in any format (jpg, bmp, png, tiff,
etc.).
* If you press Alt-Print Screen to capture the active window,
Virtual View will automatically OCR it for you.
* The Virtual View options dialog lets you control image
manipulation to increase OCR success.
* Supports UAC, allowing you to get contents (specifically UIA)
from windows that are elevated.

* Images inside PDF files are prepended with [BEGIN
IMAGE] and appended with [END IMAGE].
* You can choose several different kinds of file formats to
virtualize, including:

* Txt

* Html

* Xml

* Zip

* And if you have Office installed:

? Docx

? Xlsx

? Pptx

Imagine a Word document filled with text boxes and word art. That
information will show up as plain text when passed through Virtual View.
Spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations are the same way. If you want to
quickly skim a PowerPoint presentation without opening PowerPoint, use
Virtual View.

With zip files, Virtual View can open the zip file and get the text of all
text files. At the very least, you can get a list of the files in the
archive.

Tom.

They have made dramatic improvements in the UI and its capabilities. More so
on MAC OS than Windows, but both have addressed most of my complaints. The
big show stopper for me was that they did not have an exclude list, so
things like Quickbooks or other applications that used databases or required
exclusive file locks would break. I bitched at them for several years before
they fixed that one. I review all top 10 AVs each year and often change AVs
annually.

browse mode hot keys. If this is still the case you'll obviously see it the

yes, I have written to them and get back that the audiopass is no longer
available. They are pushing gamepass. Still trying to find out if that
package offers an option for listening to live radio broadcasts and whether
it is accessible to screen reading software. So far, no response.

I talked with someone at the NFL who told me that they will no longer
be supplying audio pass. This was a service that allow you to listen
to NFL teams using the home feeds of the individual radio broadcasts
 of the teams.
It's great if you want to follow a team that isn't in your area.
Anyway, if someone stumbles onto another source for home team radio
coverage on the net I'd like to know. Terry Chaney

one thing everyone should do when they install windows 10 is do not use the
quick setup. use custom. then you will see 13 pages of privacy options you
can opt out of.
if you use the quick setup all of these options will be turned on by
default. i got this from the leo leport web page.

Windows 10 and the new Browser supposedly gives Microsoft much more feed
back as to how you use the computer, where you go on the web, what you do
when you are there, and what you buy. I imagine anything written in MS
Office, whether it be a Spread Sheet, or a Document, is probably available
to those who wish to view the contents of these files.

If you own a Small business, you might wish to keep some things of your
business privet. do you really want a flood of Bankruptcy lawyers
sending you their Electronic Business Cards, letting you know, their
Services are available? All because someone was able to peek at your
Quick Book files?

or maybe you were stupid enough to buy some Sex Toy On Line, and now an ad
pops up when your best friend, who is a bad Gossiper, is borrowing your lap
top to do some work of his own.

Or maybe your friend writes a fiery letter off to a Politician, but because
it was written on your machine, those watchers think you are the one who
wrote the nasty letter, and not your friend.

We are edging more and more into a culture where everyone has to be careful
about what they say, and to who you say it. Even though some much is said
about being Tolerant, I find today there is less and less tolerance.

when using your computer, always, and I do mean, always have the
understanding, that nothing on it, and anything you do on it, could be seen
by someone else. big Brother is watching, and has been watching, and
probably lots of Little Brothers too.

If you want real privacy, but still want to use the computer, guess you will
need to have two systems. One that is hooked up to the internet, and
another that is not, and never will be.

I tried to open and read a message but all it said was plain text and
nothing worked after that for any messages in the reading of the message.

Opening and closing Outlook did no good.

I looked at the add-ins and there was a message that OutlookEnhance had
crashed Outlook.

I go there by going to the information item under the file menu, tabbing to
add-ins and reading that message.

I Rebooted and reading of messages in Outlook came back.

I think this has been mentioned a week or 2 ago but I forget if there is a
fix for this problem.

It was not happing for awhile in WE 8.4 but was happening so perhaps someone
had a fix but installing WE 9.1 may have undid the fix.

Ok, WE just died in the middle of typing this. I fired up narrator and
finished this message.

I can hear WE reading while I type in conjunction with narrator but WE will
not review anything - it is dead again - I have to use narrator.

Note: I am back in this message after going into WindowEyes and checking the
OutlookEnhance settings and ensure it was running and it was ok I think.

Now WindowEyes is reading what I type and it is reviewing this message
again.

I changed nothing in the settings.

Have any ideas how to stop this from happening?

I forget if there was a fix when this was happening in WE 8.4 or if I just
got lucky for a few days.

noticed it does this a lot in Thunderbird -- usually saying it twice in

Re: OutlookEnhance crashed Outlook

2015-03-07 Thread Dennis via Talk
what version of outlook are you using? is outlook enhance updated to the
latest version?

On 3/7/2015 10:32 AM, Rick Thomas via Talk wrote:

Subject: test message using Dragon naturally speaking with window eyes

High Everybody,
This is a test message to see how would window eyes will work with
Dragon Naturally Speaking home edition.
I am doing this all by dictation.
When I am done dictating I would tell Dragon to press the F7 key. To
see
if there were any spelling mistakes!
Window eyes at this moment is not reading back to me what I am
dictating!
It is spelling everything back to me!
If somebody knows how to correct this, by making window eyes read back
in words I would appreciate that!
Well I guess that's it for now!
I will run spell-check next.
The spell check found three misspelled words! And there was a few
mistakes because of the way I said things.
Talk to you all later!

Have a nice day from, K4NKZ Jim
