Re: Behind in times.

2017-07-15 Thread Nancy B. Gibson via Talk

Hi Dave,

Based on how you said you'll use the computer, the home version would be the
best -- basically because it's the same as the Pro but cheaper for any future
upgrades. I would also say get the tandem version because, you're right, if
you need help then someone can remote in to your system.

You can use WE during the JAWS download. When you actually execute the
installation, you shouldn't need WE because JAWS has a talking installer too.
If you let it use the recommended basic install, it's pretty simple. You can
always go in and change settings later.

I'm a new JAWS user after more than 20 years using WE. It's different and I
still prefer WE but it's good to have the JAWS there and ready for when I
want/need it.

Good luck,

Nancy

Re: Mouse keys are not working as they used to

2015-09-10 Thread Nancy B. Gibson via Talk

Hi List,

This may be a really dumb question but I'm going to ask it anyway because I'd
sure like to find out if there's anything I can do about it.

I'm using IE 11 with WE 9.2 on a Windows 7 system. The only thing I ever get
when I use the numpad keys (which I believe are considered the mouse keys), is
a list of what's on the menu bars -- things like back, forward, file,
favorites, tools etc. Sometimes way at the bottom of all that is some of the
actual web page I'm on. I've changed the mouse boundaries to every different
setting and it makes no difference. Is there something I'm missing? BTW: This
is not new. It's been the same through IE 10 and I think 9 and previous
versions of WE. I just lived with it figuring there was nothing I could do.

Today I tried the demo version of JAWS 16 to see what it would do and the
numpad keys read the contents of the page without any of the menu/tool bar
stuff. Any thoughts on what I can or need to do to make WE read the page
contents like JAWS does?

Hovering the Mouse

2015-10-08 Thread Nancy B. Gibson via Talk

Hi List,

Using WE 9.2 on Windows 7, what would be the keyboard way to access a pull down
menu from a mouse over link? I'm trying to access a document and need to get
to one of the options I was told is in the pull down menu that shows up when
you hover the mouse. Since I can't use the mouse itself, how can I get the
pull down to show up?

Thanks,
Nancy

Outlook 2007

2015-10-08 Thread Nancy B. Gibson via Talk

Hi List,

I'm using Outlook 2007 on a Windows 7 system and WE 9.2. When I open a
message, nothing happens. It doesn't read automatically and I can't even use
the arrow keys. I've tried alt-tabbing around but that doesn't work. If I
press CTRL-Shift-A, I hear browse mode not available. I can read the message
using the numpad keys but that's a pain. I don't know if it' something in
Outlook or a WE setting or what. I've looked through the GW Micro site for
help but everything pertains to Outlook 2010 or 2013. Is there anywhere I can
find either a set of instructions for making sure I've set Outlook 2007 up
right or a tutorial for using it with WE?

Thanks,
Nancy

Re: Outlook 2007

2015-10-09 Thread Nancy B. Gibson via Talk

Hi Rod,

When I press Alt-V, I don't get a reset option. I get a refresh but it's
disabled.

When I open a message, I can tab through all the fields -- From, CC, Subject --
but when I go past subject to message it doesn't say anything. When the
message first opens, it says either the subject and HTML or the subject and
then something about text and clipboard list box.

Turns out it may not be a WE thing because JAWS doesn't read automatically
either. Could it have something to do with the fact that at the top of the
screen (when I use the mouse numpad keys, the first thing I get is "Type a
question for help?" If that's in the way, I don't know how to get rid of it.

Thanks for any further thoughts.

Ivan,

I didn't see any answers to your question yet so I can tell you what I've found
using I.E. 10.

When downloading, things seem to go into the last place something was
downloaded to. Meaning, when I downloaded books from BARD once they went into
my Pictures folder. That's because the last thing that was downloaded was a
picture someone sent by email. That left the "download to" location as
Pictures. I actually found the books by accident but you might be able to find
them using the start menu search.

WE and Quicken 2015

2015-07-15 Thread Nancy B. Gibson via Talk

Hi List,

I was using Quicken 2009 relatively successfully but recently got a new
computer. I now have Quicken 2015 and am having trouble using it with WE (or
JAWS or NVDA for that matter). Is anyone using Quicken 2015 and, if so, can
you give me any suggestions or helpful hints?

Thanks,
Nancy

Hi Bob,

I didn't think about looking under the view section. I will do that.

When you say "log in using your Intuit ID," does that mean I'm using the online
version as opposed to my local hard drive version. If so, that makes me a
little nervous -- but I suppose I could try it.

BTW: Now having your iPad, what do you use instead?

Nancy

Re: upgrading to window-eyes 9.2

2015-07-29 Thread Nancy B. Gibson via Talk
Marc,

I didn't see the option to purchase an SMA online the other day but noticed in
one of your previous emails that a request could be sent to sales. I sent an
email request and got an automatic reply that my request had been received and
was being reviewed. What does that mean? Will I eventually get something more
from them or would it be better to just call?

Thanks,
Nancy
