Whoever you spoke to isn't right at all, unless it's not available with the
generic sound card drivers. The "disable all enhancements" checkbox is still
there in Windows 10.

Re: Making a backup

2015-08-07 Thread christopher hallsworth via Talk
Casper can apparently do this, but you still got to go into the BIOS and change
the boot order or go into a boot menu at startup, both of which requires
sighted assistance. On the Mac, there is no BIOS, but there is a boot menu on
every single Mac. Just press and hold the option key after the startup chime.

Sorry to be the barer of bad news, but unless this has changed, the Window-Eyes
demo does not give you an opportunity to activate the product. It is a demo

30-minute-and-reboot demo.

Sorry for the plug, but just to let you know, if you don't upgrade to Windows

deliberately, otherwise bots who use such programs could very easily bypass
these.

Re: Navigating Facebook, a Frustrating Experience

2016-01-26 Thread christopher hallsworth via Talk
Untrue. I mostly use the official iOS and Android apps which are quite
accessible. But I also use
m.facebook.com
which again is quite accessible. Since I have a Mac, there are third party apps
that interface with Facebook. Current, a paid app, is one of them and I use it.
Again this is quite accessible.

2. Every once in a while it refers to "pocky menu," what is that?

Window-Eyes could always say "no next" or "no previous" followed by the
control you're trying to navigate to.

Yesterday, I was navigating through a Web page and I pressed the letter

"no" as in a form where you have a "yes" button and a "no" button. It's
almost funny, really, and I found it amusing. I wonder if the message
should be changed to something like "no button available" or words to
that effect.

Actually this is now the case with demo copies available here
www.gwmicro.com/demo
If you never had Window-Eyes before it will run as a 60 day fully
functional evaluation. After that or if you have used Window-Eyes
previously it will run as a restricted 30 minute demo.

the demo should still work for 30 minutes at a time.
you just have to reboot the computer to get another 30 minutes of use.

Hi

If W-E, or perhaps it's the computer, crashes in a way which means I
lose everything except the letter keys, three of the numpad keys which
just say "beginning of Page, end of page", and "center", my only option
is to restart. In that case, is it worth starting diagnostics when
Windows comes up again, or is all memory of the problem session lost?
This has now happened to me twice.

Re: free Rollback RX

2015-04-13 Thread Christopher Hallsworth via Talk

Great news! Have now downloaded the program.

On 13/04/2015 01:41, Neville via Talk wrote:

Hi,

It has been mentioned on this list numerous times about restoring the
system to an earlier time with the Windows Restore feature. Apparently
the Windows Restore feature can cause problems although I have never
experienced this.

Anyway, there is now a free or home version of Rollback RX. Just do a
search for Rollback RX Home download.

The Home version only allows 7 snapshots and does not allow the setting
up of when the snapshops can be taken automatically. By default, a new
snapshot is taken upon bootup and does not take long for the 7 to be
reached. At this point, no more snapshots are recorded without manual
intervention.

The first snapshot is locked and cannot be unlocked or deleted which
leaves 6 snapshots available. This is where the programme becomes useful.

It is very simple with WE, to go into the snapshots, right click the
oldest snapshot and delete it. A new snapshot can be then manually taken
by pressing control n and follow the prompts.

Currently I am deleting the oldest and creating a new one every 4 days
giving a maximum of 24 days coverage. The whole process of deletion and
creation is very quick and easy. However, the next boot up may take a
while as the existing snapshots are defragged.

I had a situation recently where the system would not boot correctly and
the Windows Restore feature would not work.

With sighted assistance, very early in the boot process, it was noticed
that a message briefly flashed on the screengiving the option to press a
key. From memory, I think it was the "Home"key which needed to be
pressed in order to give access to the Rollback feature. Anyway, it was
then a simple task of using the keys to select andexecute a Rollback
snapshot. At this early point in the boot process, the mouse would not
function.

The rollback worked perfectly and my system was back to normal in a
short time.

HTH
Neville.

Re: telling the time

2015-04-15 Thread Christopher Hallsworth via Talk
Sounds like you have the insert key layout enabled. If you press
control-alt-0 to disable, insert-t should work as expected.

Hi Gang,

Am I getting forgetful or did the hot key change for telling the time?
I thought it used to be insert plus T. Now if I use that combo it just
reads what's current like the control shift R does. Thanks to who
everhas the answer.

Re: Seeking Your Input

Hi all

Ok I will jump in here and say Remote Assistance needs to be much easier to use
without the hassle of forwarding ports at both ends. When Remote Assistance was
introduced in Window-Eyes 7.5, it was very easy to use. Now, thanks to a later
update to the 7.5 series which updated Remote Assistance, it is not so. Some
clients would not have a clue about port forwarding.

Thanks for reading.

Not if you have an OEM version it seems. My laptop came with Windows 8.1 64 bit
OEM. I did the upgrade today, and now it won't activate. Not a big deal, as
thanks to an article I found on Google I got my product key which have saved as
a text document. The next step would be to presumably download the ISO which I
also have, either mount that or burn to DVD/USB and perform an in-place
upgrade. Long winded but I'm sure it can be done.

Re: Window-Eyes 9.2 still crashing With Windows Explorer

2015-07-30 Thread christopher hallsworth via Talk
Try opening the ribbon and selecting the view tab. To do this, press the alt
key as if you were opening a menu bar. Now right arrow to view tab and press
space to select.

Re: Windows 10 gone

2015-07-30 Thread christopher hallsworth via Talk
Wrong for the first 30 days. You can roll back to your previous version. After
that, there's no going back. Who said Windows 10 deletes any recovery
partitions? If true, that's not good especially for those who bought PCs
preinstalled with Windows 7, 8 or 8.1.
