Becky email questions

2017-04-20 Thread Donald L. Roberts via Talk
Although I really like most things about the Thunderbird email program,
I continue to encounter one problem which frustrates me to the point
where I wish to at least try other email programs, in this case Becky.

The frustration of which I speak is that Window-eyes 9.5.4 almost always
will repeat either the subject line or the first two lines of almost any
email message. Earlier versions of W E showed similar behavior on this
HP desktop which is now running Windows 10 creator. In fairness, Jaws
sometimes exhibits this behavior but far less than W E. Also Jaws 16
takes significantly longer on my system to load an email message. I
have played with the trigger delay and other W E settings in the hope of
at least reducing the occurrence of this as I am resigned to never
completely eliminating it. Nothing helps much. I know that some on
this list indicate that they do not experience this phenomenon although
others do.

The bottom line here is that I have decided to take Becky for a trial
run and hope some lister will point me both to the GW Micro posts on
what modifications need to be made to Becky and also Chris Grabowsky's
tutorial on its usage.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Re: Becky email questions

2017-04-21 Thread Mike Rogers via Talk
Here's some info that I recieved, when beginning to use Becky.

After creating your email account with Becky, follow these steps to make Becky
Internet email accessible.

1. From the tools menu select "General Setup"
2. Press control-tab 3 times, you will reach the message view tab.
3. Uncheck the option "Operate 4way button by the cursor key." If this option
is checked you will not be able to scroll through messages with your arrow keys.
4. Next, press control-tab one time to move to the "editor" tab. Then press
tab to move to the "use line pointer" checkbox and uncheck it. If this item is
left checked your screen reader might truncate the first character of each
line. This is a test would read his is a test.
Those are the required settings. Here are some other things you might want to
change.
1. To have the CC and BCC fields in the tab order when writing a new message,
press control-N to write a new message, then press control-down arrow twice.
The first time exposes the CC field and the second time exposes the BCC field.
This will only need to be done one time. After that Becky remembers. If you
want to remove the BCC field, just press control-up arrow.
2. When replying to an email, most times you might like the original message
quoted. From the Tools menu, select the General setup menu item. Press
control-tab to move to the citation tab. Press TAB until you reach the "Use
template for replying" Checkbox and check it.

Re: Becky email questions

2017-04-21 Thread Curtis Delzer via Talk
I am using Becky! at this moment and I am committed to it. It is simple
software with a potentially complex approach which you can either use or
ignore. Two views are useable with speech, either the html view from the
IE component built into windows, or convert to text which is the easiest.
Press downarrow and tab to read the subject and / or sender of the
message, and window-eyes by default will read the first 24 lines of the
message. "read-to-end" however is broken in the latest window-eyes, and
no one seems to know why, but it is easily overcome with the space bar
which displays the next screen of the message and hitting
"control-shift-d" which reads the field data which I have set up.
I completely recommend Becky! which is not so convoluted as Thunderbird,
has no adds, and you do not need to use an HTML viewer or creator unless
you wish too to read or write mail. It is quick at gathering mail, has
pop and that other format which I can't remember the name of but it is
seriously implemented, is very easy to set up, and configure.

Re: Becky email questions

2017-04-22 Thread Chris G via Talk

Set your page up and down as cursoring keys and set them to read field data.
You can then go through the email using page up and down.
Here is a link to sets I created a while ago:
https://od.lk/d/NzBfMjAwNDM2Ml8/b2.wepm

They are simple sets and I packaged them for simple instalation.

For some reason Chris's link didn't work for me in Firefox, but it does
