Re: Thunderbird problem

2022-10-30 Thread Mike via Talk

Hello Larry

Thank you for your reply.  I found Thunderbird became more and more
difficult to use after version 60.4.0 and so, I eventually went back to
that version.  It works well with my 64 bit laptop apart from the
editing problems I mentioned previously.  I agree WE is becoming less
and less useful but I often find We works with somethings that other
screen readers cannot cope with.  I am intending to keep it on my
machines so long as it is useful.

Best wishes

As for me and Thunderbird, If I wish to simply read a message, I have
to select the entire message with ctrl+a, and use the read to end
combo ctrl+shift+r, but there is really no way to use the editor, all
of this at least with the 64bit version. Chances are that if I had not
chosen to upgrade in this way, Thunderbird would be more manageable.
As it is, I have to move to either The Fish, or NVDA to make any
significant use of Thunderbird.

Another way to read text in a message is to save to either a text or
html file, but what a PITA.

Frankly, the thing tha t keeps me attached to WE is the Winamp
scripts, and not least, WE's version of Eloquence. I really do not
like the reading pace of Eloquence with JAWS, and increasingly NVDA. I
will have to admit though, to using an illegal version of IBM
Eloquence with NVDA, and can't make use of my Code Factory edition of
same with either screen reader for some reason.

Anyway, that is only my two cents worth on the matter, and I'm quite
sure that is just about all it is worth .

Have a great day,

Larry

Hello Everyone

Continuing the thread of email, I have a different issue.

For a couple of years now Thunderbird is proving almost impossible to
edit or modify the text I am writing.  Writing continuously there
isn't any difficulties.  However, if I need to cursor up to check
what I have written, I then start to get duplicate lines. Usually,
there is just one additional line but if I need to go up or down
repeatedly, I will get more and more copies of the same line.

I don't think these extra lines are actually there but WE certainly
keeps reading them.

Sometimes I have to resort to writing the text in notepad and then
copying it across.  Since I moved to Windows 11 notepad is also
becoming a problem.

With thanks

Mike.

RE: Thunderbird problem with WE 9.4

2016-03-18 Thread Chris Grabowski via Talk
Hi,

Are you opening messages in tabs or windows?
Also what happens if you disable apps?
Press insert-7 to toggle the app status to off.
Note: the 7 is on the QWERTY keyboard, not the number pad.

Subject: Thunderbird problem with WE 9.4

Members

Recently up graded my win 7 home premium 64 bit machine and we from
version 9.2 to 9.4 and find the following problems

In Thunderbird we repeats the first line unless I set we to read nothing
when opening a message.

If I set it to read the first 24 lines or the entire page and hit the
escape key to close the message we goes silent and upon restart I get a
Thunderbird not responding note and enter closes Thunderbird.I get the
same result if I set we to read nothing and do an read to end command
unless I hit the control key to silence we pryer to closing the message.

I do find IE 11 better with version 9.4.

Please help.

Hi Robert,

there isn't another window open obscuring the message window? I have seen this
with Eset nod32 when there is an alert. Just an idea.

Good Morning, When typing a message in Thunderbird it appears to put a
word on each line so that to read the message I have to cursor down the page.
Also this seems to complicate reading to end at least sometimes. Interestingly
when I look at a message that has been sent it appears to have more or less
correct formatting. I suspect I've pushed some button somewhere that has
created this problem. It seems to me that I've had this problem at least once
before when I first started using Thunderbird but I can't remember the
solution. Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer a solution
