RE: What Was The Name Of The software To Change Key Functions

2015-04-27 Thread Micallef Michael at FITA via Talk
Hi,

By any chance, do you have an audio tutorial of this autohotkey software?
Because one script that I really need is to configure the right alt+gr key as
regular right alt key that works exactly similar to the left alt key.

I know that you can do something like this by mess up with the registry, but I
do not like to dig into that sensitive registry.

Thank you,

Hi: I remember a posting about a program that let one change the function of
keys on a keyboard but couldn't find it in my list of deleted items folder in

If you posted the message, or remember the name of the program that allows for

There are decent directions on the site which should let you know if it will

I have remapped the CapsLock key to function as a Control key, the
LeftControl to serve as an Alt key and the LeftAlt to serve as the CapsLock.
This makes it easier to use the frequent Control-Arrow(s) key combination
for cursor movement by word, etc.

Hi Rick:
Another one that I have tried and liked is Sharpkeys. You do not
need to write code or creat a script to change the function of one or
more keys on your keyboard.
You can learn more about it from:
www.randyrants.com/sharpkeys.

RE: What Was The Name Of The software To Change Key Functions

2015-04-26 Thread Chip Orange via Talk
Hi Rick,

I think it was me who posted about a free program named Key Tweak. I did
a quick google and found it at:
http://www.tucows.com/preview/327616/KeyTweak

I used it because I bought a laptop which advertised it had a full keyboard,
but it did not have an applications key, so I remapped some key on its
keyboard which I wasn't using to be the applications key (for context
menus). It was easy to use.

Yes, I could have used shift-F10, but this keyboard has all 12 function keys
pushed together with many keys at each end, and it's time consuming to count
over to find F10.

In other cases, you might not have an alternative to the key you need, and
Key Tweak lets you pick a key and assign a key code to it.

Hth,

Chip

Subject: RE: What Was The Name Of The software To Change Key Functions

Hi: Actually Rod had asked me if I had the message.
I got this from Jim and I see another from Chip if Rod is reading this.
PS: Not sure if this is sort of a duplicate but my sent messages did not
indicate they were sent to the list so am sending this and checking to see
if it hits the list.

Hi rick,
I think the person you are looking for was me. I explained how some apps
could change the function of the keyboard and in some cases add
functionality to it. My personal favorite it AutoHotKey. There are others
of course, but this one just happens to be my personal favorite. Not only
do I use it to remap keys at times but I also use it to launch my favorite
programs with a quick press of a hot key. For example windows+alt+w
launches window-eyes windows+alt+n starts NVDA windows+shift+w start winamp
and so on. It makes my life a lot faster. Another nice thing is once you
got it setup the way you want you can simply compile the script and send it
along to your friends. They don't even need to have AutoHotKey installed.
Hth
Note if you are looking for something simpler then a little scripting
program that will do everything you want let me know and I will see what I
can dig up. I did use another program for this function years ago.

Hi: I remember a posting about a program that let one change the function of
keys on a keyboard but couldn't find it in my list of deleted items folder
in outlook under what I thought the subject line was.
If you posted the message, or remember the name of the program that allows
for changing keyboard functions for individual keystrokes could you post it
up again?
I did look at many, many messages in my outlook folder but just cant find
that message.
