Re: Windows Update Question
Hi, This laptop is six years old. With only three gigs of ram and a dual-core processor, I doubt it would run Windows 10 effectively if at all. Drivers fro my peripherals which are nearly as old may also be an issue. I just bought a new condo so there isn't room in the budget for a new computer. Re: Windows Update Question
don't be fooled by this statement. download speed for windows update has little to do with weather you are useing 7 or 10 with the same service plan you are useing. it has to do on how much traffic there is on the microsoft server, how much trafic on comcast. like how many people on comcast in your area is streaming netflix and hulu. etc. if microsoft server in your area is down. if you are streaming netflix on your system and trying to download windows updates at the same time etc. it could be many things that slow down the updates.. again it could be that a critical update failed and can block any further updates from being installed until the failed update has been installed. -Original Message- From: Bob Tinney via Talk Sent: Sunday, June 19, 2016 6:21 PM To: Window-Eyes Discussion List Subject: Re: Windows Update Question With all of the problems updating a Windows 7 computer, why not update to Windows 10, it might actually take less time! Re: Windows Update Question
do you have the service packs installed? you won't get updates until you do. if you installed the windows mail hack this may also block the updates. with me i could not install the service packs after i installed the windows mail hack. the windows repair tool did nothing either. i had to wipe the drive and reinstall windows 7 and not use the windows mail hack. then the service packs would install. no more hacks for me. -Original Message- From: Russ Kiehne via Talk Sent: Sunday, June 19, 2016 3:52 PM To: Dan Rathburn ; talk@lists.window-eyes.com Subject: Re: Windows Update Question Interesting, on my old windows 7 computer, I could never get any windows 7 updates since the first of April. open the start screen and type in windows update. you can also type in show icons. one of the results should be show or hide common desktop icons. there you can check the icons you want to show on the desktop. like user files ,network and the control panel. then you can go directly to the control panel like you did with xp and windows 7. windows updates, user accounts, sounds etc. are still there. -Original Message- From: Pastor Gil Pries via Talk Sent: Saturday, October 03, 2015 2:31 PM To: t...@window-eyes.com Subject: Windows Update Question Using Windows 10.
