Hi,
This is no longer an issue in Window-eyes 9.0/9.1 because of the new browse

Hello,

I am using the latest edition of Firefox, Win XP and Window Eyes 8.4.

Both Ebay.com and Youtube.com will allow me to scroll down the Web
Page for a few lines, and then it seems like the page refreshes
itself, Starting me over at the very Top of the Web Page.

I can Page Down, and it will attempt to Refresh, but if I keep
hammering the Page Down key, I get lots of verbale garbage, but can
eventually get close to the line I wish, but more often than not,
after pressing the Down Arrow key two three times, the Screen
refreshes and once again I am back at the top of the Web page.

I can use NVDA, and I wil, but I would rather use Window eyes.

Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks,

Dave

Re: browsing the web issues

2015-04-08 Thread net bat via Talk

i am loosing speech all the time with w e 9.1 and 64bit win 8.1
in both f f and i e and when i open the start screen until i reload w e ,
which is 5 to 10 times per day.

this seldom happens with windows 7 64 bit.
if it does it is because w e causes firefox to hang when i open the
bookmark list.
i have to turn browse mode and autoload off before i open the bookmark list.
then i can access the bookmark list without hanging.

noted it lately.
If I remember that was a problem in 8.4 but don't quote me.

RE: Refreshes And browsing the web issues

2015-04-08 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
Hi: That could be several problems all related to, well, refreshing the
WebPage via JavaScript or Flash or some other dynamics.
To skip the possibilities of how the page is laid out, if it uses frames or
other areas for specific dynamics or if the page is refreshing or if you are
in a dynamic zone and all that jazz...
There is a setting in the WindowEyes Control Panel someplace that says
something about Automatic Page Refreshes and if you turn that off that might
help if you are lucky.
Also, I have the browse mode turned off everyplace I could find it to avoid
ending up in a edit field and seemingly having no keyboard responses with
the arrow keys - sometimes I get this anyway and it may be either a WE
problem or that the Website somehow changes something to an edit field on
load after focus is set or something - don't have a clue here.
But try turning off the auto Refresh Page setting in the WE Control Panel
wherever you find it and see if that helps.
Again I use WE 9.1 on a 64 bit Windows 8.1 machine and Internet Explorer
avoiding non MS software since WE is a MS Partner.

RE: browsing the web issues

2015-04-08 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
Hi: I too find some problems that have been mentioned by others so havent
posted about them much.
WE 9.1 is better than WE 8.4 sometimes, sometimes not.
Often, when I go to a web page and try and do something quickly WE will lock
up, or the browser or something will lock up.
No keystrokes for the most part will work.
I can alt-tab around and hear something sometimes but it makes little sense
until I turn on narrator and then can usually either close the browser or
otherwise get speech and keyboard back.
Sometimes just turning on narrator and navigating around will bring back
windoweyes without doing anything else.
Inconsistency is the keyword here making documenting the problem
problematic.
These lockups also seem to happen in Outlook if I open a message and try and
navigate too quickly.
The mouse, or the read screen, will sometimes read the message but the
arrow keys, tab and other keyboard keys do nothing.
I have to ReBoot, think I had a ReStart of WE work once don't remember.
But usually both problems seemingly occur when I am in a hurry and more and
more seems a problem related to try and do something before WE is ready -
perhaps, mabey, er could be?
In outlook the only thing I heear in the dead messages is that the first one
is usually Plain Text - don't know if that helps or if it is even relevant
since I have not tracked these problems in any detail.
All messages, plain text or not after that are locked until I ReBoot.
So, lately, I open the browser or Outlook Messages and wait until I hear WE
reading freely then continue.
Again, inconsistency makes it difficult to nail down the exact cause and,
since I am usually in a hurry when it happens, I have no better details than
mentioned above.
Anyway, these are my thoughts on these types of problems. Try and wait to
hear we read how many links are on a page or on a Outlook message or other
information before trying to hit any keys and see if that helps with the
dead lockups.
If it does post up so the AI Squared team has something to narrow the
problem parameters.

I am having the exact opposite experience. WE9.1 with latest tbird and
ff is faster and more accurate then earlier versions. I have almost no
crashes that cannot be fixed by simply tabing in and out of a program
which was not the case in earlier versions.

My system is win7 32 bit home so its simplicity may be why it is more

RE: browsing the web issues

2015-04-07 Thread Vaughan Dodd via Talk
Similar experiences to those described by Alan, and quite different setup.

Windows 8.1. Professional (64 bit) using primarily Internet Explorer, and an
occasional switch to Firefox.

Window-Eyes 9.1. for me has been the most stable across several versions.

Vaughan.

I am having the exact opposite experience. WE9.1 with latest tbird and ff is
faster and more accurate then earlier versions. I have almost no crashes that
cannot be fixed by simply tabing in and out of a program which was not the case
in earlier versions.

My system is win7 32 bit home so its simplicity may be why it is more stable
then yours.

I'd like to send in the web pages for you to look at but often we is so

At any rate here is hoping we can get back to its former magnificence and

browsing the web issues
