Re: directing window-eyes to go through a different sound device

2016-05-26 Thread Curtis Delzer via Talk
sure, just tell all the other devices to use "default," and window-eyes
to use that device you wish.
Remember though that that device will be what window-eyes uses even
though it's not plugged in? so, you'll have silence then. :)
Unless you have the voice rotor available and can change to another
device using "default."

Hi all

Rod sent me this reply, but I'm sending it to the list, since I feel we're
often unsure as to which inconsistencies to lay at the door of the screen
reader, and which at the dor of Windows.
In this case, it seems to be Windows, and thanks for this Rod.
I've realocated my default sound device, and reassigned Winamp's output plug
in to go to the sound device I previously had as default because it's simply
a better quality device and I broadcast with it.

RE: directing window-eyes to go through a different sound device

2016-05-26 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Reg,

It probably has to do with how successful Windows is at determining how the
sound devices are enumerated, that is, how Windows detects them and puts
them in a list.
I have had the same experience as you, and I have found that the best
solution is to make the one you want Window-Eyes to always come up on as the
default sound device on the system.
Further, that device needs to remain active, and I wrote an app called
AudioActivity, available on App Central, to keep it alive.

Hth,

Rod

The Prolific USB to Serial convertor I use for my old Apolo II comes up
every time at startup if selected. But, as I said in my last post on this

Re: directing window-eyes to go through a different sound device

2016-05-25 Thread Reg Webb via Talk
I have a Vocalizer voice assigned to a USB sound device. On Start up,
Window-Eyes occasionally decides that it's routed to a different sound
device which, of course it isn't.

I'll be interested to know if you or anyone else has similar experience
of this.
