how to get the mouse keys to read in thunderbird, firefox, and internet explorer

2016-02-15 Thread Casey via Talk

Hi I am using window-eyes 9.0 and windows 7.
How do you get the mouse keys in window-eyes to read in Firefox,
Thunderbird, and internet explorer?

I used to be able to do this.
Then I had Microsoft remote in to my computer and they had to do A
repair on windows and then didn't delete anything.
But now when I try to read with the3 mouse in any of the programs that I
stated earlier in this message.

all is I get is DING, DING, DING.
When I try
--
Casey
to read with the mouse keys in any of those programs.
I am soon going to upgrade to the latest version of window-eyes.
So then will that fix this also?

2016-02-16 Thread Neville via Talk

Hi,
The following is a copy of a message sent to the list a couple of times
in the past few months but here it is again.

The modifications work well in W7 but it seems it does not work in W8
and W10.

Neville.

Using: W7 HP 32 bit, latest versions of WE, Firefox and Thunderbird

Use the three steps below to make both Firefox and Thunderbird
accessible with the mouse just like they used to be. I was able to use
WE to make the necessary changes in Thunderbird but needed sighted
assistance for Firefox. For some reason WE kept loosing speech in the
case of Firefox but maybe NVDA would work.

A similar method has been around for a while but never had any success
with it but these three steps really work. In short, I was amazed with
the change in mouse accessibility the alterations made.

Hopefully, someone can come up with a method to make Chrome mouse
accessible as well.

Unfortunately it is not known for sure whether this technique will work
as well under W8 and W10 as it does under W7 32 and 64 bit. If you do
try it under W8 or W10, please inform the list of your results. i.e.
Either positive or negative.

HTH

Neville.

This is the three steps needed to fix the mouse cursor problem.

The third step is the new one. You do have to arrow down many times to
find it. A lot do seem to sound the same, so be careful you get the
correct one to change.

block quote

1. Open the Configuration Editor. In Firefox, enter

about:config

in the address bar. In Thunderbird, go to the Tools menu and navigate
to Options, Advanced, General, then Config Editor.

2. Once in the Configuration editor, press TAB until you are in the list
of options.

3. Pressing UP or DOWN ARROW will move you between options or typing the
first few letters of an option's name will move you to a specific option
in the

list.

the following are entries to search for:

gfx.direct2d.disabled

if the boolean value is set to false, press the enter key to toggle the

value to true.

layers.acceleration.disabled

if the boolean value is set to false, press the enter key to toggle the

layers.offmainthreadcomposition.enabled

press control+w to close the configuration window.

restart Thunderbird/Firefox.

No luck for me using the latest Thunderbird and Window-eyes.
I still am unable to edit messages in Thunderbird as well as edit forms

RE: how to get the mouse keys to read in thunderbird, firefox, and internet explorer

2016-02-17 Thread Marc Solomon via Talk
Bob,
I just tried entering text into the Write a comment edit box on the Mobile
Facebook. After entering a few words, I then used my Left and Right Arrow keys
to review the text. I repeated this test several times. I was unable to
reproduce the issue you reported in this particular case. I tried using both
Firefox 44 and IE 11 using the Window-Eyes 9.3.1 under Windows 10 Pro version
15211 32-bit. But, I was able to reproduce the issue you reported on the Amazon
website. In both IE 11 and Firefox 44, after typing into the unlabeled search
edit box towards the top of the page, Window-Eyes stopped speaking the
characters when navigating with Left and Right Arrows. With that said, I could
only reproduce this issue once in each browser and now it is working every time
I test it. Maybe you are already know about this, but Amazon has created a
version of their website optimized for screen readers at www.amazon.com/access.
I am not a big fan of creating a separate website for accessibil
ity but if it provides a better experience and doesn't limit any
functionality, it might be worth checking out. These types of intermittent
issues can be very frustrating and can impact your productivity. If you can
find a way to reliably duplicate this issue on demand, please let us know as it
will give us a much better chance of identifying the cause and possibly
creating a solution.

Marc
