When trying to do a normal Windows update, got the reserve your copy of
Windows 10. Using Win 7, is this new version accessible? Thanks.

Is Windows 10 accessible?

2015-06-02 Thread Michael Massey via Talk
Although I do not work for A I Squared, I'm going to comment on this thread
based on logic and common sense.

Russ, thanks for pointing the issues out concerning whether or not Windows
10 will work with current pc's. Despite the fact that display issues and
other compatibility issues were detected by the check pc feature, I'm
willing to make a friendly wager that A I Squared and Freedom Scientific
will get things sorted out before the final release of Windows 10. A I
Squared hasn't even put together a presentation about Window-eyes and its
interaction with Windows 10. The July 29 release date gives the screen
reader developers plenty of time to resolve the various issues. Let's give
A I Squared the benefit of the doubt. I'll bet that the folks at A I
Squared know things regarding the upcoming release of Windows 10 that they
won't comment on for confidential reasons.

Mike M.

I am using the preview, and it is accessible. There are some issues of
responciveness, such as when you use alt tab to switch between windows, and
be careful when moving between builds, because if you are microsoft office

Hi Rod,
Not sure about Windows 10, but when I went to 8.0 from 7 I had to remove
Window-eyes before doing the upgrade.
You can press windows-enter to start and stop narrator in 8.1 and later.
More than likely you'll be at the setup your computer screen and Narrator
should work enough to get you to the desktop to reinstall Windows, again, you
can use windows-enter as a toggle.

I am using the preview, and it is accessible. There are some issues of
responciveness, such as when you use alt tab to switch between windows, and
be careful when moving between builds, because if you are microsoft office
window-eyes user, it will remove your serial number.

Hi Darrell,

Do you mind answering a couple of questions?
Is it possible to just upgrade to Windows 10 from a copy of Windows 7 Home
or Ultimate and then would Window-Eyes make the transition into the new OS?
If Window-Eyes needs to be reinstalled, what would I need to do in order to
get to a place where I have screen reader access via Narrator?
I certainly appreciate any feedback. Smile

Much thanks,

Before upgrading to Windows 10, deactivate your Window-eyes for office serial
number.
Do the upgrade then reactivate with the window-eyes authorization and
synthesizer authorization files you use d when installing eloquence.

If you do not have them, you can always email us and we can generate a link for
you to download your Window-eyes authorization again.

Hi Rod,
Not sure about Windows 10, but when I went to 8.0 from 7 I had to remove
Window-eyes before doing the upgrade.

You can press windows-enter to start and stop narrator in 8.1 and later.
More than likely you'll be at the setup your computer screen and Narrator
should work enough to get you to the desktop to reinstall Windows, again,
you can use windows-enter as a toggle.

I am using the preview, and it is accessible. There are some issues of

be careful when moving between builds, because if you are microsoft

Re: is Windows 10 accessible?

2015-06-02 Thread Keith Hinton via Talk
Hi, I'd like to answer the origional posters question which will help
those of you who don't want that notificiation icon in your system
tray about Windows 10 if you have no interest at all in upgrading.
Also, I would recommend a cchange in your Windows update settings.
Set it to download updates but let you choose when to isntall them.
Otherwise updates like this one will just install no matter what you do.
Plus, this update is annoying, because Microsoft chose to make it an
"important" update.
But in my opinion, it's not so necessary.
Windows 7 extended support continues until sometime in 2020
anyways, and as for Windows 8 or 8.1 I have no idea when those support
end dates are.
So, let's go ahead and I'll go in to the technical details of what you
need to know.
1.
The update that was installed on either your Windows 7, 8, or 8.1
computers so long as you are running the very latest updates, is
update (KB3035583)
You'll need to go in to Windows update, find the list of installed
updates, look for the update that says (KB3033583) in it's name and
then uninstall it.
In addition, to prevent it from being autoinstalled again, it will
need to be hidden the next time you find it in your update list.
A computer reboot is required after uninstalling the update.
Again, the update to watch out for is (KB3033583)
And as far as I know, from articles I've read regardless of if you
have a 32-bit or 64-bit copy of Windows this is the update that you'll
want to remove and is responsible for installing the Windows 10
notification in to your system tray.
So yes, it is possible to remove the notification icon and not have it
show up again, but I would strongly recommend you change your Windows
update settings to let you choose to install downloaded updates
yourself.
That way you can go through the list and see what you'd like.
I hope this helps.

I am sorry to here this. The fact is windows 10 when it comes out will
allow us to do so much more with our computers. It is a free update that
will allow you to use universal apps work with apps that we never had on
the pc. Have a voice assistant on the pc and so on. Windows 10 is also
going to be more stable and faster and is very much worth upgrading to.
Btw once again it is a free upgraid so why not?

Hi Rod,
Not sure about Windows 10, but when I went to 8.0 from 7 I had to remove
Window-eyes before doing the upgrade.
You can press windows-enter to start and stop narrator in 8.1 and later.
More than likely you'll be at the setup your computer screen and Narrator
should work enough to get you to the desktop to reinstall Windows, again,
you can use windows-enter as a toggle.

Before upgrading to Windows 10, deactivate your Window-eyes for office
serial number.
Do the upgrade then reactivate with the window-eyes authorization and

If you do not have them, you can always email us and we can generate a

Remember, that AI Squared cannot answer any of your questions at this

see a new update for that full support.

To answer another question on here, there are folks that will not be
upgrading and simply have no intention of doing so, regardless of the
features that Windows ten offers. Not everybody on this list cares
about Microsoft's marketing or OS feature set. That is plainly
obvious. Otherwise why would I have been tahnked at all for providing
this soltuion? There are obviously those on here who are fine being
where they are. And it is not up to you Jim what operating system one
chooses to use. People have their own reasons for using specific
operating systems. Some applications that folks use might not be
easily upgraded and so on. People have workflows. I respectfully am
not teling you what to use, so why should you do so for others? Thank
you.

It is a free update that
will allow you to use universal apps work with apps that we never had on

going to be more stable and faster and is very much worth upgrading to.

RE: is Windows 10 accessible?

2015-06-07 Thread Jim Grimsby JR. via Talk
Well I never told anyone what to do. I did give my view. I also said that
if you exspect the product of your choice to go on and to improve and if you
want to use it for years to come then you really need to support that
product. One way to support that product is to upgrade the product to the
latest and provide feedback on it so it can get better. that is all I said I
did not say you must run x or y and you had better do it now. That would be
telling you what to do and I don't have the right to do so.

To answer another question on here, there are folks that will not be
upgrading and simply have no intention of doing so, regardless of the
features that Windows ten offers. Not everybody on this list cares
about Microsoft's marketing or OS feature set. That is plainly obvious.
Otherwise why would I have been tahnked at all for providing this soltuion?
There are obviously those on here who are fine being where they are. And it
is not up to you Jim what operating system one chooses to use. People have
their own reasons for using specific operating systems. Some applications
that folks use might not be easily upgraded and so on. People have
workflows. I respectfully am not teling you what to use, so why should you
do so for others? Thank you.
