RE: monthly updates
Hi, I am totally blind and am having no problem using windows10. In fact, I quite like it. I have had a lot of experience using windows and the only iteration that I never really dealt with was windows 8 and windows 8.1, and oh yeah, windows 3.0 and 3.1. Ever since xp, with the noted exceptions, I've really had no problems. Perhaps windows10 is daunting at first to those who are unconfortable with the new, but that's why we are all here on this list. Roll with it and just remember my simple little motto, it'll be alright. Re: monthly updates
I've been using Windows 10 since the initial release with Win-eyes 9.2. Now Microsoft just released the major November upgrade which, for the most part, works fine. Here is my question. Microsoft has updates constantly being released, usually more than just monthly at this point. Window-eyes, on the other hand, is still on version 9.2 released on July 21 before Windows 10 even officially came out! So Win-eyes still with all of it's bugs and short comings and has not been updated once during all accept for some app updates here and there. I'm sure AI Square will release a new version of Win-eyes some time, but how much longer do we have to wait just to get these bugs fixed? Also will we be be charge for a new upgrade which, in my opinion, is way over due. Nobody should have to wait this long! Re: monthly updates
i'm not kenny but the biggest problem i have is with wineyes 9.2. it needs more work before it is used with windows 7 or 10 ,which i have and use. it loses speech when you open the start menu sometimes and the only fix is to reload w e. i have a hard time trying to get to the live tiles? in the apps list. some of them i haven't figured out how to get to them unless i use the mouse. with searches in the start menu there are times when the results will not speak or i have to wait 5 or 10 seconds for w e to catch up with my up and down arrow key strokes. it does this in firefox and i e 11 with browse mode too. with the windows update w e doesn't tell me when a update is installing or not. i have to find this info with the mouse and wait until it has finished. the progress indicator does not always work for this. sometimes i have to block then unblock the screen to get any indication that something is going on. there must be some way to make w e read pop up dialog boxes automatically without haveing to press shift control w every time. all the dialogs say is ok. like the u a c, the bank when it says a transaction was completed or when it warns you you will be logged off if you don't click continue. etc. with firefox the option to read entire dialog or entire message boxes can not be used because w e treats a firefox screen as a dialog or message box and will read the entire screen. this is not the read entire page option in browse mode menus. i have this option turned off, to read nothing. firefox and or w e will hang every time i open the bookmark list with control i. my work around for this is to turn browse mode and auto load off before i open it. after i search for a bookmark and go to the link then close the bookmark list and turn autoload and browse mode back on it will not hang. i can use narator or nvda for the bookmark list with no problems. with firefox 38 esr version on many pages w e treats one heading as more then one and w e will re read the same headings over and over again. with some pages w e will re read the entire page when it reatches a heading that is treated as 2 headdings when it is really one. with shop.safeway.com when you search for items w e will not read the prices when you arrow through the list. it justs says price and price. i have to turn browse mode off then go to the price. then w e will read it. then turn browse mode back on to read the next item in the list. -Original Message- From: Smith, Veronica via Talk Sent: Friday, December 11, 2015 7:48 AM To: Kenny Peyatt jr. ; Window-Eyes Discussion List Subject: RE: monthly updates A question for you, Kenny. Hi Kenny, Yeah, I found the checkbox dealing with Downloading W10 and unchecked it. It was in a box of a possible 3 updateswhile the other box had 12 important updates.
