Looks nice, but I would like to suggest putting a green background over the
whole course, and only have light background where there is sand (bunkers).
IMHO it is a bit "busy" the way it looks now.

+1 for this idea, it should be hidden by default.

Has any work been done since June on this feature?

As you can see there is a barrier in the middle of this street that
OpenRouteService suggests to use. Is this a bug in OpenRouteService or
did I map the barrier incorrectly?

Cheers!

[OSM-talk] Feed reader stupidities with our Atom feeds

2009-09-07 Thread Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason
I use Liferea as my feed reader and I discovered that when I double
click on a feed link I get the osmChange XML.

This is because Liferea is using one variable internally to keep track
of the href for each feed entry. When confronted with multiple
 elements will overwrite this variable each time it sees a new
one. So it always ends up using the last .

Here's a snip from one of our feeds for reference:

http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/changeset/2395774";
rel="alternate"/>
http://www.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/changeset/2395774";
type="application/osm+xml" rel="alternate"/>
http://www.openstreetmap.org/api/0.6/changeset/2395774/download";
type="application/osmChange+xml" rel="alternate"/>

I thought I'd move the the text/html link to the end to work around
this. But that might trip up some other feed readers which implement a
different flavor of stupid.

So can you (yes you!) please test our feeds in your favorite feed
reader and see how this (and other things) work or don't work and
reply to this mail with the results.

Here's an example feed to play with:

[OSM-talk] several vandals, one strategy?: RR8, Yasuthan, liam123

2009-09-07 Thread Richard Weait
Hi all,

An addition to previous reports here regarding RR8 and liam123. User
Yasuthan has exhibited similar behaviour:

- multiple edits small and large
- edits in geographically diverse areas
- edits that range from plausible to unusual to odd to wrong to graffiti

Yasuthan has shown interest in Toronto and Vancouver.

I collected the edits of these three and found that they edit on
different days. The one exception being Sep 3, when two of them
edited 9 hours apart, perhaps separated by a local 'night'. Am I
imagining coordination where there is none? If I were better with
calc I might make a graph for this.

Thoughts?

Best regards,
Richard

I'm sad to hear that ORS doesn't support barriers, is this planned for
some time in the future?

I know oneway streets of the Senjska street look strange but that is
how they are in reality, don't look at me I just mapped them didn't
set the signs that way ;)

Both Yathusan and RR8 seem to have a liking for making roads previously
added as other than secondary into secondary roads, but beyond that I
can't see an obvious correlation.

I would guess that RR8 may be based in England or Wales because of the
times of activity through a public holiday weekend and perhaps in the NE
Midlands because of the large number of changes there.

Other people have placed liam123 further south in the UK:
http://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-gb/2009-July/004143.html

Whether or not they're linked online personas or not, I suspect that the
project is going to need some sort of approach to deal with potential
graffiti-artists and worse - many options were discussed on talk-gb back
in July. Other sites with user-contributed content all end up having to
do something, but do take different approaches (think of what Wikipedia,
Slashdot, Fark and the rest do).

If possible, I'd be keen to still allow people to create an account to
e.g. "correct that streetname that's wrong" without having to jump
through lots of hoops, but if someone creates an account, uploads no
traces and enters 145 changesets over 3 days (as RR8 did) I think that
it's fair to smell a rat (even if the changes weren't malicious, which
is quite possible).

Cheers,
Andy

Please don't do that, both because it doesn't work and because we don't
have to get people used to referring to the machine by that name.

You jumped the gun a bit on transferring your home directory to the new

Perhaps they are the same person? Are the IPs logged? Oh, and don't
forget, they are probably reading this.

Regarding making contributions without jumping through hoops, isn't that
exactly what OpenStreetBugs does?

No need to hurry.

I've just stumbled over the problematic OpenLayers examples, as there's
currently some discussions going on about the OpenLayer topic on the
german ML.

Just let us know once the dust settled on these server changes, so we
can fix the wiki examples ...

Yes, the wiki examples have been a little neglected for a while.
I should have a look at bringing them up to date.

Tom has now fixed errol's configuration, and after a DNS refresh,
everything should just work again.

I've fixed it up now so it only forwards users that don't exist locally.
There's a DNS change that will take an hour or so to propagate however.
