That's not right, ORS do NOT support turn restrictions.
The updates take place (normally) always on Wednesdays. [1]

please, could you try it again?
For me it works, http://bit.ly/HDgbO

It seems, that it was a OSM data problem, thx!

the highway=road tag is a a temporary tag, or?
"A road of unknown classification. This is intended as a temporary
tag to mark a road until it has been properly surveyed. Once it has
been surveyed, the classification should be updated to the
appropriate value." [1]

We are considering it, but first wanted to see how our server behaves
with the additional load. As the amount of data doubled in a few months
(in Germany), we need to consider our (limited) ressources we have available.

[OSM-talk] ORS: From Italy to Danmark ...

2008-08-23 Thread Pascal Neis
OpenRouteService.org extended in functionality and coverage ...

Hi list,
OpenRouteService.org now supports routing from Danmark to Italy.
Not only Germany, but also the countries Switzerland, Austria, Italy,
Denmark and Liechtenstein are currently supported by the routing service
(OpenLS Routing Service), also the POI-search within a distance
(OpenLS Directory Service) and the geocoder (OpenLS Utility Service).

Further RDS-TMC data on traffic jams, construction works or accidants
are visualised as a layer and taken into account when routing using
the "use Real Time Traffic" option. Currently ORS support only the test
areas Bavaria and Northrhine-Westphalia in that case.

[OSM-talk] OpenRouteService.org -- POI-search, GPX download & ...

2008-07-12 Thread Pascal Neis
OpenRouteService.org now supports POI search, GPX download
of generated routes and enhanced route instructions

Hi list,
searching for specific POIs (locations such as hotels,
restaurants, ATM machines or toilets) is the typical
application for location based services (LBS). For that
purpose the OpenLS directory service specification is
available as open standard. OpenRouteService.org supports
now this interface for searching a wide range of points
of interest wihtin a given distance from any location
(currently only in Germany, UK will be added soon)

Further enhancements of OpenRouteService.org include the
download of calculated routes as GPX files and extended
route instructions for german and english (indicated by de*
or en*): Objects that intersect the route such as traffic lights
or (small) roundabouts are now mentioned in the instruction.
(currently only in Germany, UK will be added soon)

cheers
pascal

[OSM-talk] www.OpenRouteService.org now supports Bicycle Routing with OSM Data

2008-07-03 Thread Pascal Neis
Hi List,
www.OpenRouteService.org now supports Bicycle Routing with OSM Data

www.OpenRouteService.org (ORS) offers not only pedestrian and fastest
and shortes routing based on the OpenGIS Open Location Service
specifications (OGC OpenLS), but also bicycle routing for the whole of
Germany. The OpenStreetMap data needs to be preprocessed a big deal in
order to calculate a topological street network valid for routing. This
processing generates currently about 2 million street segements for
Germany (from originally about 900.000 streets). The routing is now
based on the A-star algorithm and which improved the performance in
spite of the increasing data. Further extensions are in work and planned.

Currently the following keys are used for car routing:
- highway with value = motorway, motorway_link, trunk, trunk_link, primary,
primary_link,
secondary, tertiary, unclassified, residential, service/access=yes and
living_street
- motorcar=yes/no
- oneway
- junction

Currently the following keys are used for pedestrian routing:
- highway with value = all car highway values (without motorway/-link), track,
service, bridleway, cycleway, footway, pedestrian and steps
- foot=yes/no

Currently the following keys are used for bycycle routing:
- highway with value = all car highway values (without motorway/-link), track,
service, bridleway, cycleway, pedestrian and footway
- bicycle=yes/no
- work in progress: tracktype

Of course there are other combinations and possbilities and we
are evaluating those, but this shall serve as a first start ...

We are interested in your feedback! So far the service is restricted
to Germany only, we will add more later.

Cheers
pascal
