Daniel, In parallel of of the excellent work you are doing for these imports, I suggest that we pursue the discussion on other aspects since the discussion was going in all directions in 2009-2010. We must have some reflexions on how to import this data properly. We now have a very good map of Canada but Nominatim Searches are limited since in general (at least for Quebec) there are no administrative limits other then provinces. I think that we all agree it should be a priority to define these administrative limits and assure that we have efficient Nominatim searches. This information and existing boundaries (ie. provinces, international boundaries) should be treated carefully to assure that Nominatim searches work properly. We already lost some shorelines. Lets not loose our borderlines! One aspect I think of is when a way overlaps existing ways. I dont know if this has been discussed before. When a way describing the limits of a town or a region overlaps other levels (ie. province, international borders), do we keep this way independant or integrate with the other information ? And it would be better I think to keep administrative boundaries information separated from other Canvec file imports. L'utilisation de la balise osmc:symbol dans une relation est bien la bonne procédure. Le wiki montre bien que la balise Guidepost est pour un tout autre usage. On l'utilise par exemple à l'intersection de deux sentiers ou pour signaler un point de vue. Je ne crois pas que le terme vecteur a été proposé. Il pourrait assez bien traduire le sens donné au terme anglais way dans OpenStreetMap. Pierre Daniel, Si tu te rappelles bien, nous avons échangé à plusieurs reprises toi et moi en 2010 lorsque j'ai complété le tracé du Sentier de L'Estrie de près de 180km dont tu avais préalablement tracé certaines portions. Tu avais alors indiqué ton désaccord à indiquer les bornes kilométriques et auttres repères du sentier de randonné. J'ai aussi examiné ce qui se faisait à l'époque et fait des propositions sur la page wiki de Randonnée pédestre au Québec que j'ai alors créée. Je n'ai cependant jamais eu de feedback depuis. Peu de collaborateurs du Québec interviennent sur cette page de discussion. Ceci aurait pour effet de faire disparaitre complètement le sentier de randonnée des cartes. Avant de modifier quoi que ce soit, il serait opportun de proposer des solutions concrètes. La discussion est ouverte depuis 2010. Il faut proposer autre chose que d'effacer les infos du sentier de randonnée. Ton message soulève deux questions. La première est relative à la descriptions de deux activités différentes sur un même segment. Si ces activités sont indiquées sur le mêmc chemin, les moteurs de rendu accorderont la priorité à une des deux activités. Et à ma connaissance, c'est le vélo qui sera priorisé, et on ne verra rien du sentier de randonnée. Comment régler ce problème? Je suppose donc que tu veux rediscuter du fait d'ajouter des bornes kilométriques, repères d'intersection de sentier et points de vue. Ces informations sont importantes pour le suivi sur GPS. Sur mon GPS, les bornes kilométriques et les divers repères me permettent de me situer rapidement, à tout moment sur le sentier. Y-aurait-il une façon de conserver cette information pour les GPS et mettre moins d'information sur les cartes? One is a bicycle track/route I created few years ago, the other is a hiking trail/route imported later. Both merge near the Chemin Keenan bridge and share the same tracks/roads for 3 km. The hiking trail was drawn few meters offset even if it was not physically separated on the field. http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=45.62953lon=-72.1247zoom=16layers=M I was about to remove the hiking trail ways and transfer the relation=route to the existing tracks/roads when I saw the unusual number of tags attached to it. The problem is that some of them are referring to the entire hiking trail (name, operator, ...) while others are specific to ways used (access, highway, surface, ...) . For instance the relation (id=48112682) has the following tags... access=permit, highway=trail, surface=dirt While some shared segments have the following tags... highway=tertiary, surface=paved, and there is no access restriction.
