Re: [OSM-talk-fr] Fwd: [OSM-talk] Vote for Google to liberate their aerial imagery - *please help*
Paul Johnson wrote: Notice that signing online petitions to encourage change is roughly as effective as urinating windward to stay dry. It's not an online petition. Google have some guys called the Data Liberation Front. They ask you to use a Google service called Google Moderator, with your Google Account, to vote on how to improve Google products. That's exactly what we're doing. (With Google. Did I make that clear?) Online petitions are asking for change from without. This is asking for change from within. cheers Richard -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Vote-for-Google-to-liberate-their-aerial-imagery---*please-help*-tp25401334p25417866.html Sent from the OpenStreetMap - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk

Not entirely related, but I did want to remind everyone that I have been in contact with various engineers at Google over the past 1.5 yrs or so to get Google geodata released. I'm starting with StreetView data (the GPS traces of the vehicles as they move around taking pictures). From what my contacts have said, there is lots of interest in making this data more public almost everywhere at Google, it's just a low priority in terms of engineering time. I'll keep everyone informed if something moves forward, but so far it's been one reminder email every 4 months sort of thing to see what's going on. ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk
