Re: [OSM-talk] Updates for JOSM
I think there is a setting in JOSM where you specify how often (number of days) it checks for a new version. So after X days it gives a pop up (when you run JOSM) if there is a new version. Or is that just for plugins? Probably just for plugins actually, as there is technically a new version of every JOSM every night, though it could contain really untested stuff. When you launch JOSM and don't open any files, the background is a Message of the Day and can give the latest news (such as important updates). I don't have JOSM to hand right now. If you use Linux there are also scripts available, that check automatically on startup if there is a new version available and download and install them automatically. cheers, Martin ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk
Re: [OSM-talk] Updates for JOSM
While we're on the subject of JOSM user questions... Is there a way I can make all my new nodes/ways be given the same value for source. Like a function that I can set to OS_OpenData_... and turn on when I have a tracing session. I'm not sure how it should deal with me adjusting locations(or adding nodes to a way), probably best to just ignore it. It would be really handy and save me having to remember to add the source tag everytime. Another search term is modified which will select every object that will be uploaded. I'm not sure if it is useful to tag every single node like this. Maybe it is enough to put the tags on the ways. (id:0 type:way) Btw. you can add a source tag to your changeset in the upload dialog. But that's more for the record, other users won't see it in the future unless they query the changeset. And think about it is it still the same source if user A uploads a gpx and user B des adjustments with Yahoo, user C adjusts based on topo map ... adding a chain of source isn't useful at all Sebastian ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk
