+1

I had so much trouble installing it on Ubuntu 9.10 (because of pymedia,
static image rendering was working AFAIR)

what about using a PPA at launchpad? I think you need to upload a
Source-Deb-Package and they do the worring of the versions on them own?

I forgot to mention that I just ignored the fact that MP3LAME wasn’t
found (one reason for not being satisfied with the build—I’d like to get
it working with toolame or twolame).

http://bleah.co.uk/~simon/stuff/python2.5-pymedia_1.3.7.3-1~sew1_i386.deb

If anyone can help me create a proper package out of it, the help would
be very welcome.

Get the Pymedia 1.3.7.3 source, and apply the attached patch. It
defines HAVE_LRINTF in the setup which stops it from redeclaring
lrintf() which Debian with GCC 4 already has. Run ‘python setup.py
install’.

If you give me a moment I’ll have a checkinstall based .deb (the
setup.py script doesn’t provide bdist_deb).

Slightly related, but the version of osm2pgsql in Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy, the
last long term release of ubuntu is effectivly broken. :(

Hmm… it’s not “obsolete” with respect to any existing or former packages
in Debian: It works with Python 2.5, and most of the Python
dependencies are in both Lenny and Sid.

The one exception is it depends on a package not yet in Debian. Pymedia
has an ITP for it, but there has been no progress on it for a while. I
have personally tried to create a build of Pymedia for Debian that I
feel is adequate enough to package (i.e. support all of Pymedia’s core
functionality even if much of it is unused by party render). I have
failed so far. ☹

+1 on wanting a package for it though ☺

Joerg, hi --

I'm putting together a package of osm2go - a simple mapping tool that
should be nice for small screens and low-powered devices - for non-Maemo
debian-based systems. You'll find my work so far in
https://garage.maemo.org/svn/osm2go/ under branches/ports/debian.

What's the next step towards adoption? Organise a mentor, I assume. Any
pointers? "Get trunk to stop shipping a debian/ directory" is on the list...

Hi Joerg,

I would like this one :

http://svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/rendering/party/

But last time I tried, the python code of the video.py was obsolete
regarding the sid's dependancies.

Why not pyroute ?
http://svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/routing/

Not in svn.osm.org :

osm2go

Thanks Joerg,

If you can update the debian and ubuntu packages of gosmore, I'd be
grateful. Andreas Putzo created a debian package by back porting some
stuff. The bug that he sidestepped has since been fixed. So creating a
debian package should no longer require any patching.

Ubuntu.com is currently distributing an API 0.4 version of gosmore. So
if you can just block that, I'd be grateful.

Nic
