The existence of a gate is in fact a good indication _that_ the way will continue on the other side. I agree that maybe in some less populated / rural areas this could be different (e.g. access to a pasture). cheers, Martin ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk

Well what I've described is common for a lot of rural areas I've checked, so all that these warnings achieve in these areas is making noise and the more noise that exists the less useful something becomes. Maybe this should be dealt with in a regional setting... ? ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk

I disagree. I have had dozens of ways in Bremen alone where someone mapped the private ways, but ended them at the gate, where in reality the ways did indeed connect to the public road just outside the fence. -- Dirk-Lüder "Deelkar" Kreie Bremen - 53.0901°N 8.7868°E signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk

I'm not saying it's not a valid warning, I'm saying it's most likely not a valid warning if the end node being referred to is a barrier=*, regardless if it's a grid or gate or whatever. ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk

The issue here is not that the way is ending with a barrier node but the fact that in a reasonable vicinity to the ending node there's another way. Quite often this means that some mapper forgot to connect the ending node to a way. In your example this is indeed a false alert, but the rule itself is worth keeping. I found several unconnected ways via this very keepright "error". Claudius ___ talk mailing list talk@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk
