[Talk-us] Whole-US Garmin Map update - 2015-01-19
These are based off of Lambertus's work here: http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl If you have questions or comments about these maps, please feel free to ask. However, please do not send me private mail. The odds are, someone else will have the same questions, and by asking on the talk-us@ list, others can benefit. Downloads: http://daveh.dev.openstreetmap.org/garmin/Lambertus/2015-01-19 Map to visualize what each file contains: http://daveh.dev.openstreetmap.org/garmin/Lambertus/2015-01-19/kml/kml.html FAQ Why did you do this? I wrote scripts to joined them myself to lessen the impact of doing a large join on Lambertus's server. I've also cut them in large longitude swaths that should fit conveniently on removable media. http://daveh.dev.openstreetmap.org/garmin/Lambertus/2015-01-19 Can or should I seed the torrents? Yes!! If you use the .torrent files, please seed. That web server is in the UK, and it helps to have some peers on this side of the Atlantic. Why is my map missing small rectangular areas? There have been some missing tiles from Lambertus's map (the red rectangles), I don't see any at the moment, so you may want to update if you had issues with the last set. Why can I not copy the large files to my new SD card? If you buy a new card (especially SDHC), some are FAT16 from the factory. I had to reformat it to let me create a 2GB file. Does your map cover Mexico/Canada? Yes!! I have, for the purposes of this map, annexed Ontario in to the USA. Some areas of North America that are close to the US also just happen to get pulled in to these maps. This might not happen forever, and if you would like your non-US area to get included, let me know. -- Dave ___ Talk-us mailing list Talk-us@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-us

Re: [OSM-talk-be] For your convenience
Indeed, JOSM needs to be running and the remote control plugin should be enabled. http://localhost:8111 talks to your local JOSM instance over the network. JOSM then sees the following command. /import?new_layer=trueurl= https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/42418402/PT_lines/DL2917%20DLOV%20bus%20N17%20Drongen%20Station%20-%20P%2BR%20Oostakker.osm.zip and fetches the file I prepared and which got synchronised to my Dropbox. The advantage is that you don't have to go download the file yourself. It's possible to synchronise with my Dropbox, but every once in a while each of those 1900 files get updated (I didn't find a way yet to only modify them when it's actually needed). So it's better this way. Now everybody can simply grab the ones they are interested in. You can, of course, search on the page using ( / or F3 or Ctrl-f), but the table headers can be sorted as well. I'll try to populate the last 2 columns too, but that's a bit more involved to get it right. Jo ___ Talk-be mailing list Talk-be@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-be

Re: [Talk-bd] OSM for mitigation project
Hi Fred, Like you maybe know, Pete and I are at this moment in Bangladesh for the missing maps project. And out of my experience here, you can be sure you can count on the Bangladeshi OSM community! We are for example mapping these days together with a group of around 10-15 volunteers who are doing amazingly good! Have a look on the Bangladesh Facebook group to see all the enthusiasm! It might also be useful to talk to Tai Chi from Japan, he did some mapping with drones in Bangladesh before. Have look at this video: http://vimeo.com/68523276 Istiaque also know about it I think... And Fred if we can help out a little bit while being here, if we can talk to the TdH people here in Bangla together with Istiaque or Ahasan or another hard core mapper, we definitely want to! Just let us know what we can do. Best greetings, Jorieke 2015-01-21 18:33 GMT+06:00 Fred Moine frmo...@gmail.com: Thanks For this information, I will let Tdh Bangladesh be in touch with you. Hi Maarten, This is the starting point for one of 2 scripts, which run in JOSM. The first script compares those template routes with existing data. The second script takes the information from 1 of the template routes, transfers it to an existing one and adds ways to the relation. It's a way to keep those route relations up-to-date.
Beispiel: addr:street = Unterrainer Straße - Strada Riva di Sotto addr:housenumber = 10 addr:city = Eppan a.d. Weinstr. - Appiano s.s.d.v. addr:postcode = 39057 addr:hamlet = St. Pauls - S. Paolo addr:street:de = Unterrainer Staße addr:street:it = Strada Riva di Sotto addr:city:de = Eppan a.d. Weinstr. addr:city:it = Appiano s.s.d.v. usw.
-- Christian Quest - OpenStreetMap France ___ Talk-fr mailing list Talk-fr@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-fr

[Talk-it] Autovelox di PoiGPS.com su OSM oppure OsmAnd
___ Talk-it mailing list Talk-it@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-it

On tagge ca comment proprement? I usually also add a placename in the center of the townland but do not include the (ED FOOBAR) on those. It is better not to put the brackets in name as it messes up a search for the name in nominatim. Carlow and Wexford were the first places where we started adding townlands so may not have best practice. eg Ballynagran (ED Glenealy) a seach for Ballynagran finds the node and not the area: http://nominatim.openstreetmap.ie/search.php?q=Ballynagranviewbox=-16.23%2C56.11%2C2.23%2C50.72polygon=1 Re adding a place node as well. Nominatim will also merge the place node inside the area if both names and rank match so you dont get duplicates. To be explicit, you can also add the place node with role label to the area relation. eg Bolagh Upper has the node as a linked place: http://nominatim.openstreetmap.ie/details.php?place_id=844862 And a search for Bolagh Upper will only yield one result. http://nominatim.openstreetmap.ie/search.php?q=Bolagh+Upperviewbox=-16.23%2C56.11%2C2.23%2C50.72polygon=1 D ___ Talk-ie mailing list Talk-ie@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ie ___ Talk-ie mailing list Talk-ie@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ie ___ Talk-ie mailing list Talk-ie@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ie
