 Alcohol prohibited: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/384683
it doesn't highlight St Leonard's Park.  - Perhaps this is a bug I
should file? (and where would I file it to?)

I don't think child relations do anything/much... this isn't so much a
bug as a feature enhancement.

[talk-au] Alcohol Free / Prohibited Zones

2010-01-14 Thread cam_daw
I decided tonight I might try and play around with alcohol-free zones
using a few relations using North Sydney as an example.

Alcohol free: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/384684
Alcohol prohibited: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/384683
(View relation on larger map makes for better viewing pleasure)

I'm sure my way of doing it is probably full of wrong things, such as
relation type (it's multipolygon, because the Bowling club and the
cricket Stands at St Leonards park are allowed alcohol, just not outside
these establishments inside the park).
As well as sub-optimal tags.

Essentially:-
Alcohol free = don't drink / carry unsealed alcohol
Alcohol prohibited = no alcohol at all allowed even if sealed

I temporarily tried giving the relations a name, but that seems to give
ways and closed ways (areas) the name of the relation in addition to its
own name.
- Hence I just gave it a note field instead.

As always, suggestions are welcome :)

I never did get round to doing the one I was going to do before I had
to leave, so well done...

The only comment is on the prohibited relation, is it really needed to
do the inner sections of St Leonards Park, when you have the outer
section of the park done?

If you have a look at page 10 from here:
http://www.northsydney.nsw.gov.au/resources/documents/AFPZ_maps_2009.pdf

You'll see that the lower left oval and surrounding buildings are
allowed to have alcohol (they sell it there!), and a similar situation
exists in the lower right (it's a bowling club that also sells alcohol).
But apart from these 2 places, the rest of the park is alcohol
prohibited.
- Which is the primary reason I chose the multipolygon relation, as it
defines an outer area, and has holes in it.

I may fine tune the alcohol relations to make St Leonard's park a
multipolygon relation, then add that relation to the main alcohol site
relation which sounds like it'll do a better job of describing it.

Relations:
Multipolygon - for making holes in areas:

Site - A way to group nodes/ways/areas/relations which belong together:

Re: [talk-au] Alcohol Free / Prohibited Zones

2010-01-14 Thread cam_daw
I've played around with the alcohol relations a bit, changing the type
of relation to site, rather than multipolygon.
And have created a special relation for St Leonard's park, as it's
weird.

Alcohol free: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/384684
Alcohol prohibited: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/384683
Alcohol prohibited for St Leonard's Park:
http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/385594

The main Alcohol prohibited relation now includes St Leonard's Park
relation (as a child relation).

I've also updated the St Leonard's Park alcohol prohibited relation to
reflect the prohibition times and dates - as it's a weird special case.

The only thing I've got to whinge about it, is that when viewing the
main alcohol prohibited relation
Alcohol prohibited: http://www.openstreetmap.org/browse/relation/384683
it doesn't highlight St Leonard's Park. - Perhaps this is a bug I
should file? (and where would I file it to?)
