Ahh ok, you're after a site like some pothole reporting site in the US, not
that we don't need something like that here too! :)

This isn't something you usually put on the base map, but you have JS overlays
that you can click on, something like the openstreetbug code might be very
suitable for this without needing code changes.

http://openstreetbugs.appspot.com/

Instead of reporting map bugs, you report council bugs :)

[talk-au] Fwd: OSM Mapping and Hazard Reporting

2009-08-19 Thread boundp
Re-sent as I needed to correctly subscribe my proper email address

Hi
In response to a question re what kind of Hazards.

I mean hazards and any other road/path work that will help cyclists.

Any cycling location is reportable, but those locations that are on council
cycle routes puts more
pressure on council to fix it, and gives council credit for doing a good job
when they fix it.

Here is a list of typical hazards and other road/path work that will help
cyclists.

Where any infrastructure is missing or damaged:

Shared Path Signs ,
Directional Signs ,
bike access through road closures,
Footpath ramps missing,
Dedicated lanes to be located
Contraflow lanes required
Bike route Warning signs for drivers,
Lighting in dark areas,
Tree Trimming,
Advance Stop Box needed,
Car parking at cycle ramps to be prevented
Bike lanterns, buttons and/or detection loops at traffic lights
Path Drainage and flooding issues.

Potholes can generally be fixed quickly (few days) and don't need to be
reported on this kind of
system, where a response may take weeks to months to years.
