No signs for the two streets by the river or the street by the Country Energy
Depot
Maybe I'll have to go into the Council Office, which it seems I haven't mapped
either
I found new street(s) off Grand Junction Road
took a photo of the clear sign
and have a clear photo of the dirt on the car side window instead.
A trawl of the real estate sites hasn't provided the street name so I'll try
Council minutes next

Because our Council uses surnames of people to name the roads, others with the
same surname steal them. My road has no roadsigns at present - all disappeared
the same night.

Asking a local is one option. I go with, "I'm so lost. Can you tell
me what street this is?"

Visiting a business and asking for a business card is another option.

Thanks Steve.

The last 3 or 4 times I've checked Yass, those 3 have had no street signs
and there were no other indications of what name they were. Still it's been
a few months since I drove out to Yass so maybe it's due up again, just in
case thay decide to signpost the streets nicely.
I'm pretty sure that when I tagged Gundaroo, that one street also didn;t
have a sign post. I know what all these streets should be called but untill
there is some indication on the street itself, I'm not about to infringe
copyright by copying them in.

However there is one new street in Bungendore (opposite O'Neil Place) that
should have a sign post by now. I'll check it on Thursday.

Some people complained that the cloudmade noname layer can be horribly
out of date, basically they cache a tile and don't refresh them very
often.

I made a noname overlay style and it should be a lot more up to date
as the server should* be expiring tiles in real time:

http://maps.bigtincan.com/?z=8&ll=-35.255,149.163&layer=BFTF

* I think the expire code currently has a bug and isn't expiring tiles
properly, I posted a note to the dev list but no one replied, not sure
if this means they know or not...

Thanks for this information Steve.

I obviously didn't zoom in far enough, google was displaying the
names, but not openstreetmap.

FYI, a simpler method:
- navigate to town on openstreetmap.org
- select "noname" from the + menu on the right

Streets without names are highlighted in red. I only see about 3 for

I should be more specific, I looked at town on the hume on the way to canberra

Using
  * Yass
  * Goulbourn
  * Murumbateman
  * Gundaroo

It's quite simple to check towns yourself.

Navigate to http://sautter.com/map

Navigate to area you want to check.

Move the slider to the far left, to only see google maps.

Locate a town.

Zoom in on it.

Move the slider to the right to see if openstreetmap has the streets
and if the streets have names.

Hope this helps,
Pete

  I think I have filled most of the holes between
Campbelltown, & Goulburn on the Hume Highway & secondary roads. You may
want to look closely at Sautter to find missing pieces to the South of
Goulburn, back of lake George Bungendore, Lake Bathurst, or alternatively
around Gunning & any alternate routes / country lanes to the north of
Canberra and around the Hume Highway.

You can use http://sautter.com/map/ to compare google maps with
openstreetmap. This is one way to find areas which need mapping. My
quick scan of towns near canberra shows that they have the streets,
but no street names. So one possibility is to collect all the street
names in a town on the way.

A personal favourite is to find a nice walk, and map that. I
personally find mapping things like that the most rewarding, as I know
that information isn't already available on google.

Enjoy your road trip.
