Inderdaad. Het feit is dat die nieuwe zone nog geen naam heeft. Men heeft wel
van Timesquareke of Yvan Mayeur Plein gepraat maar niks officieel yet :-)

2015-06-28 Thread Nicolas Pettiaux

Much thanks for the idea and the work.

How can the new "pietonnier" be viewed on OSM ?

Is is finished yet ? If not, when will it probably be ?

What remains to be done ?

How could I help ?

Shouldn't we celebrate, and doing so for example, map explicitely every
bar and restaurant in the center of Brussels, and while doing so, write
down some important information about such places : their names,
specialities, opening times, website, telephone number, accessibility
info, kind of food served or of beer served ... ?

Should we write a press release to inform the users that OSM-be is ready
for the new arrangement and is probably the first online map to be so.
So it should also work for routting.

I have started https://annuel.framapad.org/p/PsmBxl20150628 and I would
like some help for the content (to be sure to write something that is
true) and the translation to English and Flemisch

Re: [OSM-talk-be] Bruxelles centre : nouveau piétonnier

2015-06-28 Thread Matthieu Gaillet

Thanks Nicolas.

It’s done at 95% from the cars and pedestrian point of view but would need many
improvements regarding the public transport and bicycles for their respective
infrastructures an itineraries which were extensively modified and require much
more (more difficult) work. I prefer to wait for the actual realisation of the
pedestrian zone to go on site surveying because lot of details are missing or
unclear on the website.

I’ll review the press release and amend it if I feel so. Thanks for doing it !!

Re: [OSM-talk-be] Cycle surveying party in Brussels ?

2015-06-28 Thread Matthieu Gaillet

(automatique) fonctionne bien. Voir par exemple la série
https://www.mapillary.com/map/im/9wy9vDIaoEi-TP3DxkrJMA

Re: [OSM-talk-be] Bruxelles centre : nouveau piétonnier

2015-06-28 Thread Jo
I think Matthieu already did the parts that apply to the streets themselves.

Adding the POIs should be a continuous effort. It's really hard to that
properly in a hurry.

Philippe's efforts to Mapillary the streets of Brussels can be a lot help
for it and the Mapillary plugin for JOSM is already functional enough for
it as well.

Philippe managed to cover a lot of ground, really impressive! My style of
making pictures is a bit different. I tend to stop and make close ups of
opening hours and other details I consider interesting enough to map
afterwards. But walking through the streets pointing a cell phone as a
camera already makes one receive a lot of strange looks when you simply go
forward and the way I do it, it's impossible to advance properly.

Also doing it that way does not produce a smooth viewing experience when
flicking through the picture sequences.

Anyway, compromises are always hard.

Maybe you can organise another mapping party? And this time we actually go
out into the streets. I'm not sure how to go about the surveying + data
entry in just a few hours. Maybe it would be better to organise a series of
mapping parties with 2 weeks inbetween each one. The first for surveying,
the next for entering the data or help out if they tried themselves and
encountered problems along the way.

Then another one surveying, this time around they know already what they
want to pay attention to.

I already amended the itineraries of De Lijn. I'm still waiting for
permission of STIB/MIVB to use their data. In the mean time I occasionally
fix/upgrade their routes, but it's a lot harder to do without data from
upstream, so it's not a priority for me. OTOH, this might be a good
occasion to tackle them. Matthieu just holler if you'd like me to get you
up to speed. I have quite a few tricks up my sleeve to make the job easier
to accomplish. (map styles, scripts, filter rules, where the tram rails are
(from Urbis), etc.)

Of course I’m ! :-)

I’ll get back to you later. Regarding the stib data I think that as Nicolas
said the fact that they were using Mapbox with an OSM layer is an invitation to
map. But maybe I’ve a slightly too liberal interpretation of the Openness of
data :-)
