[Talk-GB] Highways England data

2017-04-21 Thread Brian Prangle
OSMUK Chapter has opened a dialogue at senior level with Highways England
about access to their data and they have indicated they are open to
releasing data to us, requesting a list of what we would like to see
released.

So here's an initial attempt at a list (unprioritised)
Comments welcome before we respond to Highways England

Should we prioritise the list?

While we're at this - should there be a UK-wide project to update all
operator=Highways Agency tags to operator= Highways England tags?

NEW data
1.Major junction/dualling improvement layouts ( details to include as much
as possible e.g highway layout, lane nos, traffic light position, lane
turns/destinations,speed limits, cctv camera positions, waterway /footpath
diversions) and go-live dates
2.Active Traffic Management go live dates, indicating 4 lane running where
installed and ERA(Emergency Rescue Area) locations
EXISTING data
1.List and location of Named Junctions
2.lit/unlit
3.maxspeeds, to include average speed locations
4.Clearway stopping restrictions
5.Maxheight/Maxweight (many will be at county level however)
6.Speed camera locations, indicating if average speed

7.Lane nos turns and destinations

8. Alternate routes for when roads are closed: the ones marked with circles
or squares or similar.

9 traffic sensor positions and types
10 Gritting routes and gritting infrastucture

"network=lwn" to get that to appear as a "highway", then render that as
per e.g.:
https://map.atownsend.org.uk/maps/map/map.html#zoom=14&lat=54.38373&lon=-1.51698

That looks useful. Thanks. I'll see if I can figure out what its doing.
Good map, BTW.

Re: [Talk-GB] Rendering national/regional walking trails

2017-04-21 Thread Paul Berry
Hi Beth,

Roles apply to the members of relation (which are almost always ways), not
the relation itself, if that helps.

In theory a route such as this should be mapped as a parent route_master
relation with all variations of that route as child relations. In practice
this is somewhat rare:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Relation:route_master

I assume you're looking at https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/12145 ?

Regards,
*Paul*

[Talk-GB] Rendering national/regional walking trails

2017-04-21 Thread Elizabeth Oldham
I am trying to render the national and regional walking trails. These
are done as relations, with tags like network=rwn so easy to pick out.
When I render them I find there are alternative routes, as an example
the Coast to Coast Walk splits into 3 at one point. Looking at the
relation in josm I find they have a "role" of alternative, or main as
appropriate.

However, I don't seem to be able to get at the "role", and there is
nothing else which distinguishes main from alternative routes - so I can
render them differently.

Have I missed anything obvious?

Thanks
Beth

I haven't formalised anything either, but I would be happy to provide
CSV files from database queries if that would help e.g. a list of FHRS
establishments marked on the comparison tool as having a postcode error.

One other problem with FHRS data that doesn't show up on the comparison
tool is a duplicate FHRS ID (because these fail the primary key
constraint on import and are therefore dropped). I can get a list of
these from running the server scripts manually if that would help.

Thanks for that idea, Robert. I have added an issue on GitHub
. I won't have
time to add this feature in the near future but may be able to have a
look over the summer. Contributions from others are always welcome, of
course.

In the meantime, I guess we could create an Overpass Turbo query for
entities with both an fhrs:id and not:addr:postcode tag to generate a
list.

Thanks,
Greg
