[Talk-GB] Electric vehicle charge points

2019-05-16 Thread Rob Nickerson
Robert, all,

See also: https://www.eafo.eu

When I looked at EV charge maps last month, this seemed the most complete.

For these "close but not close enough" third party data sets do we need a
special tool to help us refine the data quality? E.g. an app that asks you
to collect a GPS tagged photo of the object.

P.s. With this and renewable energy, is the time coming to set up an
Environmental OSM team/group/working group? Just floating the idea out
there.

As it happens, I've just started having a play with this data. I
haven't got a full comparison tool working yet, but you can get an
idea of how the NCR data compares to what we currently have in OSM at
https://osm.mathmos.net/chargepoint/progress/ (click on one of the
postal areas on the map to see that data for it).

It appears that the NCR data is not all that complete, and I'm also
not sure the locations are accurate enough for a direct import. Given
other micro-mapped features near charging points, we'd want to get the
locations relative to them correct. There are also charge-point
locations in the NCR that are 10's of meters away from where they
actually are on the ground. (Some examples at
https://osm.mathmos.net/chargepoint/progress/NR/#15/52.6253/1.2994 . )
There is certainly scope for using the data to improve coverage and
detail in OSM though.

Robert.

Re: [Talk-GB] [Talk-gb-london] bulk importing london open data to osm

2019-05-16 Thread Rob Nickerson
Hi all,

In addition to Martin's TfL cycle data project, I wanted to draw your
attention to another London data email (see below). This one is for
Electric Vehicle charge points. I've had a quick play and the data quality
looks good at first glance. It would benefit from a few more eyes on it so
posting here as some not on the talk-gb-london might still be interested in
it.

P.S. The corporate/government projects all appear London focused at the
moment but there are some exciting projects outside London too. For
example, collaboration with transport authorities in the Midlands (
https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-gb-westmidlands/2019-April/002370.html
). If you have others please feel free to share.

Best regards,
*Rob*

hello

using a combination of ilya zyerev's osm conflation and osm conflation
audit tools, a dataset of proposed changes/additions to osm charging
stations< http://osm-conflate-audit.glitch.me/project/charging_stations/ >
is now available for community validation

once the 131 datapoints have been audited, we can use josm to import valid
data as per ilya's instructions<

[Talk-GB] Electric car charging points

2019-05-16 Thread BD
Hi All, Some time ago I came across National Charge Point Registry,
which can be found here: data.gov.uk data.gov.uk I wonder if we could import
that data into OSM? Im sure that it would be useful to the greater
community and general public. Cheers, dzidek23 PS. I have no idea how to
do a mass import to OSM and I would not like to experiment with such big
dataset...

Re: [Talk-GB] Increase of mail size limit

2019-05-16 Thread Rob Nickerson
Personally I don't think that is very user friendly. I can post onto my
Google drive or upload to the wiki (if it's one of the very few file types
it supports) but others may not know or be bothered.

It's quite normal to include attachments in line with communication (e.g an
attachment in an email or an attachment in a chat/instant message program).
We should allow people the choice so that they are able to do what comes
naturally to them.

I suspect a small limit is designed to discourage attachments, which could be
hosted elsewhere and links included.

[Talk-GB] early vote for OSMUK Q3 Quarterly Project

2019-05-16 Thread Jez Nicholson
Given plenty of discussion here for having a quarterly project on solar I
have started a vote for it to be the next project
https://www.loomio.org/p/MoIw3091/-solar-power-will-be-the-q3-july-sept-2019-quarterly-project

If it is looking popular then we can get some prep done ready for kick-off
in July.

Jez
