Re: [OSM-talk-ie] Tag for lay by
Passing place might be the most suitable if that's the most likely usage. Do you have a link to the location? [OSM-talk-ie] Tag for lay by
HI - what tag should be used for a lay-by - i have used passing place but not sure if that is correct - and lay-by maybe a bit grand for what looks like the old road which was left as a bit of a pull- in and there seems to be no tag for a lay-by ... thanks c ___ Talk-ie mailing list Talk-ie@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ie
Re: [OSM-talk-ie] upload problem
Hi donal only managed to get back to computer now - yes issues is resolved - thanks very much to you and dave for help I sync’d dataset and then ended up just accepting my changes as when i did both it left the nodes but they were not ‘linked' as a waterway. it was a bit odd as waterway is not on a boundary but the river it joins crosses over - I hope i haven’t deleted anyones work…. is there a way to let people know that someone is editing a particular square so as not to duplicate work or run into version probs? anyhow i can upload changes again which i- i do upload often as i worry about losing work! thanks again c. > On 25 Feb 2015, at 14:27, Donal Diamond wrote: > > Caroline did you resolve your issue? > > The conflict is is due to someone modifying and uploading an object while > you were still editing. > > In the case of say a county or province relation, the other mapper may not > be editing in your immediate vicinity. > > So you need to sync your dataset and then reconcile the differences ie do > you keep your modifications, their modifications or both. > > In the case of a county relation normally you would keep both - ie you > both split a different way on different parts of the county. > > Have a look at https://josm.openstreetmap.de/wiki/Help/Concepts/Conflict > > Without knowing the details of the conflict normally I would say accept > both your and their changes into the relation and see what you end up with. > > The longer you leave it the harder it can be to resolve. > > If stuck, save your work-in-progress daatset as a osm file and pop into > https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.oftc.net/osm-ie > > Someone might be able to give your realtime help or even get your osm file > and try to resolve it for you. > > Uploading often, especially if you are editing along a county boundary > helps avoid or minimize any conflict issues. > > D > > > > > > > > > > On 24 February 2015 at 22:41, Dave Corley wrote: > >> Hi Caroline, >> >> Thanks for the info. >> >> If you are using JOSM, sync the entire dataset. >> >> It will tell you "done with errors" or conflicts or something similar. >> >> You will then have the option to fix the individual conflicts by choosing >> to keep either the version you have or the server version. >> >> Once you choose for each conflict, click upload again to resolve all >> conflicts >> >> Let me know how you get on >> >> Dave >> On 24 Feb 2015 22:24, "Caroline Lewis" wrote: >> >>> also just compared josm and map craft and josm is giving me 2 sheets 5 -5 >>> NE as well - i was editing NE sheet/section when i got the error >>> On 24 Feb 2015, at 22:03, Dave Corley wrote: Hi Caroline, Can you give a bit more detail. Re: [OSM-talk-ie] upload problem
Caroline did you resolve your issue? The conflict is is due to someone modifying and uploading an object while you were still editing. In the case of say a county or province relation, the other mapper may not be editing in your immediate vicinity. So you need to sync your dataset and then reconcile the differences ie do you keep your modifications, their modifications or both. In the case of a county relation normally you would keep both - ie you both split a different way on different parts of the county. Have a look at https://josm.openstreetmap.de/wiki/Help/Concepts/Conflict Without knowing the details of the conflict normally I would say accept both your and their changes into the relation and see what you end up with. The longer you leave it the harder it can be to resolve. If stuck, save your work-in-progress daatset as a osm file and pop into https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.oftc.net/osm-ie Someone might be able to give your realtime help or even get your osm file and try to resolve it for you. Uploading often, especially if you are editing along a county boundary helps avoid or minimize any conflict issues.
