I know that for both Longford and Cavan where I mapped EDs the ED boundaries have not changed since they were first set up in the 1840s. Re: [OSM-talk-ie] Did you add Electoral Divisions or DEDs to OSM?
I suspect Brian is trying to ascertain what sources were used for mapping each ED. We may have to look at the history of the relations / boundaries to identify the mappers / changesets. Going forward it would be wise to include the source on the actual boundary so it can be verified / it's clear where it was sourced from. Re: [OSM-talk-ie] Did you add Electoral Divisions or DEDs to OSM?
Brian, As far as I know there were only a few changes in DED boundaries between 1901 and 1911, most of them consisting of a new DED being split off from an existing one (Derry from Roscarbery in Cork, Glenanne in Armagh). The 1911 census reports are available at https://archive.org/search.php?query=1911%20census%20ireland Paddy. [OSM-talk-ie] Did you add Electoral Divisions or DEDs to OSM?
If you did, can you please remember what date applied and what sources were used? It was recently remarked that some of the Dublin ones were only dated 1901. As I added quite a few of them using the 1901 census index because I knew no better, I am curious as to what was used across the country. If I had access to those countrywide ED sources I would like compare some with my 1901 boundaries to see how closely, if at all, they match. With hindsight, nationwide conformity would be good. If changes or replacements are needed it would be nicer to do it during the remaining two weeks rather than after liberation. ___ Talk-ie mailing list Talk-ie@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ie
