Re: [Talk-in] Indian OSM server
Since most if not all of the required stack is already installed and configured for http://openhistoricalmap.org it shouldn't be too hard to setup http://openstreetmap.in there. Johnson will need guidance from Sanjay or Sajjad. If we have consensus on this can we start setup? Satyakaam, you can ping and point the nameservers at the hackercoop box (on which you should also have an account, send keys to Sanjay if not). Ok i have pointed the NS to the hackercop box , also my public key is already with Sanjay he can copy it and give me the username to access the box . thanks -Satya Satyaakam.net http://satyaakam.net/ | fossevents.in | ___ Talk-in mailing list Talk-in@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-in

The data used is still planet.osm . But the generated tiles are customized for India (B) Even if we use our own tile server, we cannot fork the planet.osm file to just change the borders of India. If we do that, we would have to change the borders every time we update planet.osm file. The change needs to be done at the map stylesheet. We just need to ignore certain border segments so that it is not rendered in the tiles. This is very simple to do. Here is one such proposal from Arun which came up earlier this year https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/IN:Proposal can we just get this done instead of talking about it for years now ! -Satya Satyaakam.net http://satyaakam.net/ | fossevents.in | ___ Talk-in mailing list Talk-in@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-in

If anyone wants to push this forward, happy to collaborate. I will let you know, after studying.
