Re: [Talk-ko] Dok-do edits ...
Thanks for the reversion and edits. One of the users I know actually wondered if that "historic" tag was ever appropriate, and I think removing it was the right way to go, as well. As for the "status of the islands", the names given to the peaks in OSM were Korean in the first place, and the area is already set as Korean territory at admin_level=2 and 4. Thus, adding further, lower-level Korean administrative boundaries and changing the name of the peak as decided by the Korean government don't seem to be changing the status, but merely updating to reflect its current status more accurately. I'll go ahead with the addition of boundaries soon. On Wed, Oct 31, 2012 at 5:20 PM, Paul Norman wrote: > Edits that cannot be reasonably viewed as changing the status of the > islands are okay. Re: [Talk-ko] Dok-do edits ...
I've reverted it as well as adding the note to that node (it wasn't there before). I also removed the historic=memorial as it appears to be inappropriate for a node in the middle of the water. Tagging rocks as tourism attractions seems a bit odd too, but I haven't touched those. There is not much that can be done with users who register and make one edit. It is difficult to engage them in any form of discussion. This is why I have not approached this like a normal dispute with multiple sides but waited for someone who objects to the current tagging to contact the DWG. I know that working through the DWG for reverts and such is a bit unusual but given the regional tensions it's likely to have to continue and it beats an edit war. > From: Wesley Woo-Duk Hwang-Chung [mailto:wesle...@gmail.com] > Sent: Tuesday, October 30, 2012 11:06 PM > To: Talk-ko@openstreetmap.org > Subject: Re: [Talk-ko] Dok-do edits ... > > I've notified pnorman of DWG about this, so it should be fixed soon. > > 나의 iPhone에서 보냄 > Wesley Hwang-Chung | 정우덕 > Tool-Box.info > > 2012. 10. 31. 13:28 Changwoo Ryu 작성: > > > Another one-time mapper: > > > > http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/tette_nazo/edits > > > > > > 2012/10/3 Wesley Woo-Duk Hwang-Chung : > >> I've notified DWG of this now. My understanding is that one should tell DWG first that the editing is legitimate. Then do the editing. The link is a pretty valid one, so we shouldn't have any problem.
