Re: [talk-ph] please revert this user's edit (Re: Fwd: [OSM-talk] RR8 - Possible International Vandal(assistance required in various countries))
Regarding cleaning up and/or removing some tainted data, it could be a tricky one. I did some cleanup in Ashton Fields in Calamba (and added landuse and a road stub for future reference); Ponte Verde near the STAR tollway interchange in Santo Tomas (where there used to be some edits from maning); most of downtown Tiaong and the nearby market area (which can be "recovered" by making an actual GPS trace in the area, more if necessary); Dolores, Quezon (where I could go and make some GPS traces, if my schedule isn't that busy); and the Avida residences in the Tayabas/Lucena boundary area (someone had previously made an edit over the area). I also made some cleanup in the Bicol area - along the stretch of the Pan-Philippine Highway (specifically in Naga City, where it is hard to edit when using the online editor - epecially if one's computer is very slow and 8 years old and above), and some places in Albay. The problem with some of Anthony's edits is that they have too many nodes in a certain way, which is probably bad for routing. The problem with some of Deck's edits is that some of the edits he made were probably done previously by other contributors (which is the other problem caused by some of Anthony's edits). If we are to activiate the revert script on those edits, madadamay ang ibang mga edits (other edits will be affected by it). For me, It would be best to retrace, remove or transfer tags, then delete the questionable nodes and ways, if there were some previous edits placed in that area, so that the older (and probably less tainted) edits will be there, although under a new node/way identification number. BTW, we're lucky that we don't have to deal with people like RR8. Instead, all we need now is some understanding and consensus. ___ talk-ph mailing list talk-ph@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ph

Maybe on the Metro-manila day we are having those with out cars could setup shop somewhere and work on things like this for you guys, then when you get back its just a matter of uploading the new data.. It gives me something to do within the OSM as i would like to contribute but i have not been so far 100% successful, done some but not much.. Regards.. Michael Also i would like to get some good photos of the lot of you to put up on the web so as we all can acknowledge you guys, that have done a fantastic job so far.. Hi maning, The problem is that it's hard to determine which are the edits worth keeping and which are not. I would assume that the edits that appear where there is Yahoo! imagery is valid and those outside are not. Also, we still have those edits from user hellodeck that appear to be traced from Google Maps still lingering in the database. Re: [talk-ph] Suggestion for unbarricaded one-way street corners
Hi Jun, If the road is significantly divided (either with a center island or concrete barriers) then this should be modeled in OSM as two oneway=yes ways in opposite directions. If there is a through street connecting both sides then they should be connected to do proper routing. What you're doing is correct. Keep on mapping! It's a good idea! We could be the first to do a "simultaneous mapping party". We are planning to map Samal Island as to when, we just don't know yet. Bdw, I will have a talk on Sept. 19 about OSM for the Software Freedom Day at the University of the Immaculate Conception in Davao City. I will try to open to them the possibility of having a "simultaneous mapping party" in Manila and Davao. We could try a simultaneous mapping party in Manila and in Davao (and possibly in some place within the Philippines) sometime between November of this year and February of next year. BTW, there are other spots with cloud cover and/or old data in Yahoo's Satellite Images: * Teachers Village, some areas in North & East Triangle and Piñahan (since the images for the SM North EDSA-Trinoma-Eton Centris areas are out of date since possibly the early to middle part of the 2000's), a spot somewhere in the PhilAm-West Triangle-Del Monte area, Roxas District, Barangay Santol, some areas near New Manila, and some areas in the UP Campus-New Era-Culiat area in Quezon City * Some areas in Sampaloc and Santa Mesa, BASECO in Manila * Southern and central San Juan City (though most of the roads are already laid out, I believe that we might have missed some streets) * The northern part of Ortigas Center (Barangay San Antonio) in Pasig City * (possibly) the Filinvest Corporate City/Filincity area in Muntinlupa City To be honest, I just hope that at least 12 or so "experienced" contributors will join the said mapping party, and share their experiences with each other (and possibly with potential contributors). --- On Thu, 9/17/09, maning sambale wrote: From: maning sambale Subject: Re: [talk-ph] Time for another mapping party?
