Re: [talk-ph] Mappers doing "adding attribute"

2014-11-18 Thread Feye Andal
Hello Sir,

We from Project NOAH are polygonizing point POIs so that we can use it for
the WebSAFE feature of Project NOAH. WebSAFE (web version of InaSAFE) only
uses polygons as its exposure data to be able to function correctly. Sir
Maning instructed me to delete the points after we polygonize them.

We apologize for not informing you right away.

Thanks,
Feye

Re: [talk-ph] Mappers doing "adding attribute"

2014-11-18 Thread Feye Andal
As for the buildings with many possible features, we did not polygonize
them. We only polygonize (as of now) banks, markets (esp. supermarkets,
groceries, and public market), schools, fuel and religious
institutions/place of worship. We will wait for your replies before we
proceed to editing again to avoid confusion.

Thanks!

Hi Eugene,

I looked at the first contributor in the list.

It seems that this contributor decided to change POI from node to polygon. For
every changeset, I see one node erased.

You would have to look more in detail. I dont know the context.. But for
buildings with many possible features, it is better to show each of
these as a node.

Hi,

Does anybody have any idea what these mappers are doing doing changesets that
only say "adding attribute"?

http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/aileen_aviera/history
http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/Khym/history
http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/ivet/history

Most of these changesets seem to be polygonizing point POIs.

[talk-ph] The long tail of OSM

2014-11-18 Thread maning sambale
Harry Wood presented the topic "The Long Tail of OpenStreetMap" [0] at
the State of the Map 2014
Very interesting, my take home message was: Most of us started at the
end of the tail, when we teach new people about OSM, please consider
that OSM's learning curve might be similar to the long tail graph" :)
