Thanks for adding provincial boundaries (in advance).
I hope I can upload them in time for the render this week :)

However, I placed (or
marked) some of them - in the north eastern portion of Laguna province

I'll look into these before uploading what I made of provincial boundaries.

(incomplete) and in the entire province of Guimaras. Right now, certain
portions of Makati are being subdivided - The barangay boundaries of
Urdaneta Salcedo. From what I know, Barangay Salcedo doesn't exist -
Salcedo Village is part of Barangay Bel-Air - and Barangay Urdaneta exists
and its frontier[s] (that were featured since last week in OpenStreetMap)
are accurate - according to Wikipedia.
Please proceed as you see fit. I plan to add the QC brgy boundaries
in time (or until someone beats me to it).

Regarding the Higways portion, the Maharlika Highway (or the Pan-Philippine
Highway) is part of the Asian Highways Network as AH26. Should we tag the
entire stretch of the said highway with the tag ref=AH26 ?

Any reference to this?

As we all know, most political boundaries in the Philippines is pretty
much contested by neighboring provinces, so I will have to say that my
upcoming upload is still very much a work in progress (as most of the
Phils. political boundaries are :))) )

Keep on mapping! I have to say were getting a lot of progress this year!

I do appreciate your opinions. Thank you for your time.

 Hi,

I'm planning to add provincial boundaries for the Philippines
 following IanLopez' recommendation:
 tag:
 boundary=administrative
 admin_level=4
Level 4 = borders of the various provinces Metro Manila

I will clean-up the boundaries and upload them within the week. I
will also just add internal boundaries, meaning boundaries within
Islands like in Mindanao. I will not add boundaries of island
 provinces like Palawan or Mindoro.

 Any comments?

 cheers,
 maning

May I ask where did you get the boundaries (source reference)?

Yes, that would be cool. The admin boundaries tag is already in map
features but may be reformulated on the Philippine
 context. Feel
free to discuss and I suggest we make a wiki page for this.

Admin level 2 = The border of the Philipines (including the Spratlys
[the parts that the Philippines claim, per PD 1596] the
 Scarborough
(?) Shoal; excluding Sabah Palmas islands)
Level 4 = borders of the various provinces Metro Manila
 Level 6 = Congressional districts
Level 8 = Various Cities Towns in the Philippines.

I'm planing to buy a GPS device or possibly ask for one from
 fellow OSM

will be held in San Pablo City on August 24. It is a big
 opportunity ro map
a good portion of San Pablo City. Please email me personally

2008-10-27 Thread Eugene Alvin Villar
Hello all,

Can we agree on the conventions for the values of the admin_level tag for
boundary:administrative?

Here's one suggestion:

2 - national boundary (mostly applicable to the sea border with Malaysia
4 - provinces
6 - cities and municipalities
8 - districts (like in Manila, Iloilo City)
9 - zone (like in Manila, Pasay, Caloocan)
10 - barangay
12 - sitio/purok

I don't think we really need to tag the regions since the provinces are the
primary subdivisions of the Philippines and regions are mostly for grouping
purposes.

And I don't think we need to tag the congressional districts yet. Besides, I
think those boundaries fall under a different value for the boundary tag.
Like boundary:legislative?

Also, let's not mark boundaries on open sea just yet (except for the
international boundary).

Regards,
Eugene
