Hello all,

If you want some statistics on the Notes in the Philippines here's a nifty
page:
http://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-notes-country?c=Philippines

As of today, 14 Notes have been added. And of those 14, 6 have been closed.

(Just click on the "" link on that page to see an overview of the
Notes worldwide and to also go to other countries.)

BTW, here's the official blog post announcing this new feature:
http://blog.openstreetmap.org/2013/04/29/openstreetmap-opens-up-to-more-contributors-with-easy-add-a-note-feature/

And here's the wiki page explaining the feature:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Notes

If you're a map-app developer and you want your users to be able to add
their notes to the map, there's an API available:
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/API_v0.6#Map_Notes_API

If you want to suggest features or report bugs on the Notes feature itself,
the official Github repository for the OSM website is the place to go:

[talk-ph] OpenStreetBugs-like functionality is now on the main OSM website!

2013-04-24 Thread Eugene Alvin Villar
Hi guys,

Some of you may know about OpenStreetBugs:
http://openstreetbugs.schokokeks.org/?lat=14.6&lon=121.05&zoom=14

It's a 3rd-party website where people can easily submit bug reports on the
map. For example: "this building no longer exists". For mappers, it's also
a quick way of placing notes and things to do in case you don't have time
right now to do some map editing.

Many OSM developers have been hard at work in bringing OpenStreetBugs'
functionality to the OSM website and they have now put it up live! The
feature is now called Notes.

Here's an example of a note: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?note=175

You can add a note by zooming into an area then clicking the "Add a note"
link on the bottom-right corner of the map.

You can view all the notes on the map by hovering your mouse pointer over
the layer selector on the top-right corner of the map and then ticking the
"Browse Notes" checkbox.

Unfortunately (or fortunately?) all the data from OpenStreetBugs was not
(yet?) imported into the main OSM website.

Have fun adding notes!
