Re: [talk-ph] OSM and mapping professionals
I do hope he becomes an OSM convert. Several friends I have in the geospatial industry, have the same initial reaction. But I know some are using OSM data already. @murlwe, he seems to be based in Mindanao so it would be good if you can have a meet-up. Re: [talk-ph] OSM and mapping professionals
Kids prepare to be amazed! Well, I am - I am waiting for the mapping professionals to join the discussions here. Eugene, I agree he doesn't know how OSM actually works. It works for us but the guy find it hard to fit OSM in his craft. The level of accuracy he wanted is not really practical for OSM. If we can have data as accurate as what he is wanted then why not add it to OSM. Re: [talk-ph] OSM and mapping professionals
Hello everyone! I read the whole thread and I think Eugene hit the mark in saying, *"OpenStreetMap doesn't aim to replace NAMRIA or even UK's Ordnance Survey. What we want is open/free vector map data that is topologically correct and is reasonably placed (to about 10 meters) such that users of the data won't get lost."* Currently, I'm finishing up a degree in Geodetic Engineering and for all I know, amdomag could be one of my professors. I believe he has been suggesting that accuracy and methodology need to be checked. However, method accounts to accuracy and accuracy needed is largely dependent on its purpose. With this, I stand that OSM serves its purpose. ___ talk-ph mailing list talk-ph@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ph
