Re: [Talk-transit] Public Transport Plugin

2010-02-24 Thread David Murn
Hi all,

Slightly off-topic post for this list, but Ive been looking at using
something like this plugin to map bus routes and similar in my area, as
I have an unlocked PNA which is perfectly suited for the purpose.

Unfortunately (afaik) there has never existed a JVM/JRE for pocket
devices such as pretty much any GPS on the market today.

In order to use these packages to plot bus routes, is my only option to
carry a laptop around, or do these plugins and tools exist for PNAs?

Re: [Talk-transit] Conversation on this list (was: Proposed Feature - RFC - Public Transport)

2010-12-14 Thread David Murn
Maybe Im a little new to this list, but this language and attitude
hardly seem hardly appropriate, and English *IS* my first language. I
would like to think that public lists are available for discussion and
debates, not personal inflammatory insults.

Michael, if you really dont like reading something twice, youre more
than welcome to leave this list yourself. For such a detailed proposal,
which such big potential changes, I feel (although it appears to be at
odds with your opinion) that the more discussion can only improve the
clarity of the situation. Maybe youd prefer the transit list to go back
to 2-3 emails per week, with no active discussion, if thats what you
want, then I do suggest you remove yourself from the list.

It is attitudes such as yours, which are sadly ripping this project
apart at its heart, although if you have a hidden agenda to do that,
then maybe its you who needs to be taken off the list.

Maybe you sent more to him, but the only part that was posted here were
2 sentences, one of you using profane language and another threatening
to have him banned from the list, because he didn't 'behave' like you
told him to.

If you have such power to be telling mailing list users what to do, then
exercise that power and remove him, or live with the fact that some
people will disagree and sometimes things may be discussed more than
once on a mailing list.

Sure, everyone has that right. A quick read through the previous weeks
emails on this topic though, shows no reason why anyone should feel
offended. The closest Ive found, was you suggesting that someone was
making accusations about mappers, which was answered politely and
correctly.

Lets just be clear, this was the flow of conversation:

I'm failing to see any accusation there, and most definitely not a
'personal accusation', given the use of the word 'they'.
