In case anyone is proceeding on this, it was pointed out to me that the original OSM import was 2007, so a GeoDiff should be run between 2007 and 2009. (I just happened to have '08 and was curious about activity between '08 and '09'). ___ Talk-us mailing list Talk-us@openstreetmap.org http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-us

It would be handy to get just the diff files. I did a diff in SQL against the named ways, but it would be handy to have a diff .OSM file for everyone to start with that contains all changes. I'm not sure how to do that. I also, (for consistancy), go back to the roads.osm layer and select edit-delete. then hide that layer and go back to the data.osm layer and make it active and upload. This way, i keep track of what roads i have uploaded. If i have a team working on the area.. i can then share this smaaller file with the group. Also, by manually selecting the top half of the roads.osm file (may take a while to select). and (edit-delete) then open up the roads.osm file again and select the bottom half, and edit / delete) you now have 2 smaller files to play with. Some interchanges that were reconfigured in 2007-08 still appear in their old configuration. (For that matter, an interchange that was reconfigured from 1994-2003 still appears mostly in its old configuration.) But I suppose the census bureau isn't that interested in freeways. Still, most errors (even non-freeway ones) from the '07 files still persist in '09. There are a few new streets in there which weren't imported to OSM before. Some of them, I've drawn from Yahoo! imagery. Now I have names for those. Of course, I could have done my own field observation, but I have other priorities. -- David "Smith" a.k.a.
