Hi All, I want to have flyers / brochures available to hand out at events / parties. Are there any in the US that we can (re-)distribute? If not, maybe we should think about designing some and having them printed. Printing 10k flyers costs ~ EUR 130 or so here in Germany (so, 1.3 cent per piece), but re-packaging them into easily shippable cartons of 100 or 200pcs and mailing them to individual mappers or local groups costs ~ 1.8 cent per piece on average, not counting time spent. I had tried to find someone in the US to distribute the English flyer; I had someone willing to sponsor the cost of printing but nobody I spoke to felt able to actually handle distribution. I'm guessing I have a couple hundred of those flyers. I got them from Steve C, who sent them to me last year. He may have more, in which case you could save the cost of another print run. Helpful info, thanks! I guess we should have one central distribution point here in the US. Shipping within the US is pretty cheap (shipping to and from Canada not so much, or so I've heard). I can do it if there's no central repository for these things yet. Steven mentioned he already has a few 100 and SteveC may have more. I'll ping Steve and see if he has a lot of them. I also remember Thea sent a lot of stuff to the GeoIQ office when we had the hack weekend there back in Feb. Well it does prominently talk about the CC license which won't be accurate in another couple of weeks. I also see osmarender on the globe which doesn't exist any more and the old style logo... but those are pretty minor things. The license bit would be the biggest thing that should probably be updated if a new batch is being printed. Thinking about that - any replacement text should deal with ODbL proper and not the license change which is a temporary hiccup that will be forgotten soon. I think the old logo is more powerful in print than the new one (which seems to have been designed mostly with screen in mind), but we can't keep using different ones. I have always found Osmarenderer ugly and especially for print. It would be nice to include some different OSM visualizations (watercolor maybe) to show the versatility of open data, but it should also be balanced and uncluttered (it's a tiny brochure if I remember correctly). The license definitely needs to be updated, also the maps of NYC and London should be refreshed with current data just to be sure. -- Shawn K. I'd also love to see new high vis jackets made up! Excellent idea. I have 10 hi-viz jackets here. I don't know if it makes sense to ship those back and forth to wherever a mapping party is. It's a shame cafepress does not do hi viz vests. It would be very easy to set up an OSM shop with them and offer them for sale to anyone wanting to order one. I looked around and custom hi viz vests can be had for around $25 a piece (with custom logo) if you order a reasonable amount of them[1]. On a related note, I was thinking about a traveling mapping party kit: a bunch of GPSes, swag, some vests, instruction leaflets. A neat idea in itself, but I feel the US is just too big to make that practical. Order fulfillment services probably don't make sense here due to the high cost of using them vs low cost of the item itself, or I'd make some suggestions on order fulfillment houses I know.
