The Talk2 List This Weeks late night, Early Morning, not quite breakfast show.

2006-09-14 Thread Arthur Pirika

Yup, tune in after Things and stuff for another
show. Now that the issues with winamp etc should be under control, I plan to
bring you more game music, maybe some more old tapes if I find decent stuff, and
I will probably midi at you all. However, the show may be a little late, due to
a family thingy we have this weekend. Don't fear though, the show will be on,
maybe just a little later than usual. So, tune in and enjoy it.

2006-09-14 Thread Samuel Proulx
Not really; as far as I've found (not that I'm a judge of musical ability),
they're all either indi or signed with labels small enough that they cut
decent deals with the artists. The folks who really care about the music
probably tend to care enough to read the contract and get a good one.

Same rates and portions are set though with the rare person with legit
talent. I can't think of any at the moment, but I know they must exist
some

where.

Yeah, but you get 50 cents a page! lol. At least he wrote his own tunes
(mostly). Today's pop "musicians" don't even do that; someone else writes
the music, someone else writes the words, someone else choreographs the
dance, and someone else produces the album and pitch-shifts the "artist"
until they're on key and edits the video when they screw up the dance
steps.

And none of these people ever get any credit. And then we justify our
downloading of mp3s with the fact that the record company doesn't pay the
"artist" hardly anything at all. But then, with most mainstream "artists"
these days, why should they? What, exactly, has Britney done that's worth
more than a small percentage of sales? Not having any musical or audio
talent at all, maybe I've missed something.

Yeah, that's actually quite interesting. I didn't know about that, and I
didn't
know he lived that long, either.
Of course, these days, you don't need to have tallent of any sort to make
it big
-- just know someone who knows someone, look nice, and the rest doesn't
matter.
Of course, the people who know what they're doing hang out in the
background and
get no credit.

exactly, they just make the sorry person sound good.
Then when said sorry person doesn't have those people around anymore and
they are older, suddenly everyone wonder why they sound like crud.
