I added memo column to one of folders which was marked use default
settings, and they were then on most of the folders. I closed and
reopened and the memo column was gone again.

Can't see anything unusual ...
No task left in CC, memory-usage is 15000 K, 424 GDI objects (iirc

I normally don't stop TB! but sadly I have to ... I've to extract a

TBBETA Mission Statement

2001-11-30 Thread Marck D Pearlstone

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

Greetings Beta Listers,

This is your monthly message from the moderation team to remind you
of the primary purpose of this discussion list.

To review the list rules, follow the link at the end of this message.

..
  TBBETA Mission statement
..
The TBBETA list has been set up for the purpose of discussing The Bat!
officially released Beta test versions and related issues. For general
topics of a more simple nature regarding full release versions, refer
to TBUDL. For more complex topics refer to TBTECH.

An "officially released" beta version is one which has been announced
*by RITlabs* on the TBBETA list, usually with a list of changes.

Simply send messages to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> to send it to the
whole list.

To leave this list, send a message to the auto-responder at
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>. You *must* submit the unsub
request from the email address at which you receive list traffic. The
list server will send you a confirmation message. You will not have
left the list until you have responded by forwarding the confirmation
message to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>.

If you wish to receive the list digest instead of individual mails,
please send mail to: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> with the text..
  set tbbeta digest
..in the first line message BODY.

Here's a quick link for it .. just double click here and send the
message that is generated to begin receiving the list as a digest:

mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?BODY=set%20tbbeta%20digest

If you ever wish to change back to standard message mode, please send
mail to: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> with the text..
  unset tbbeta digest
..in the first line message BODY.

mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?BODY=unset%20tbbeta%20digest

..
It would probably be a good idea for you to set up a folder to keep
TBBETA messages in. If you do this, the next most useful thing to have
in place is an automatic filter to move mail from your inbox into your
TBBETA folder.

Set up a filter for incoming mail which looks for

There is a TBUDL Rogues Gallery, letting you put a "face to the name".
The gallery can be viewed at

Anyone else wishing to appear in the gallery, here's how:

Send your picture by e-mail to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>. Please
provide it as a 120x144 jpeg image to reduce Marck's workload.

For those of you who do not know how or do not have an image editing
program to do this, send the image to Marck and he'll do it (if a bit
reluctantly).

Make sure you include your name and the e-mail address you want to
use, as you want it to appear on the page.

Hmm, since the infamous Reply-To button trouble I only use

As it seems related to your POP checking, do you use a dial-up or are

You are right. No bug.

The QTs I used in the AB templates (mailing lists) were not visible

Now it works.

Interesting. I created my common folders by moving what were formally
folders in an account to the common area. I then deleted the account
which was basically created only for the said folders. I therefore
don't have the redundant folders being mentioned.

DAC> If they do get in it what happens when one tries to reply to one

The account assigned to handle the reply is your default account for
mailto: URL's. In fact, the default account handles everything that
the common folders may need an accounts services for, such as trash,
storing sent mail etc.

What I'm having problems with is the folder maintaining its column
settings. The use default column settings is a bit confusing in the
context of common folders. Is this the default column settings for the
associated account? Or is it the default setting for the common
folders. I can't really say since one of the folders will not retain
the column settings that I assigned it. It keeps reverting to the TB!
default when I re-start TB!

I personally prefer a trash folder per account.

Krzysztof, I think it is. As long as there is no "common" Trash folder it
needs to be created the first time called for. I don't think, deleting
further common folders will create more trash folders... ;-)

Me too, on beta 14. It sounds as though you have something similar to the attached.

I presume the 4 folders below "Alastair's Account" are something to do with common
folders. But why are they there?

My attempt at interpretation ... I note that the Inbox inside an account is called
'Inbox', whereas the common Inbox is called '\\\Inbox' in filters. I can see value in
directing mail from multiple accounts into \\\Inbox, but the implementation is
confusing. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the intention, but it would be better to have
a single "Common Folders" folder as root, ready for users to add their own folders,
rather than what
looks like a duplicate set of \\\Inbox (etc) which *doesn't* work
like the Inbox of an account.

(As an aside, I note that the problem with extra Backup tabs is still there; also, if
one of the 4 common folders is highlighted when Tools | Backup is chosen, there is no
account shown at all in the second step of the backup (thus it would appear not to be
possible to back up mail held in common folders ...).

Having something 'not for public access' makes me not putting it into
a directory with automatic indexing like that is is located in.

Beta/10e was 'not intended for public access' and that's why located
directly in root dir, so you had to know it's exactly name, this Beta
