Ok. I didn't realize that you were having the problem within common
folders alone. There are a few issues left to be dealt with, in regard
to the use of common folders, so I haven't really started giving them
the full responsibilities I plan for them.

Yes, Allie also mentioned he hadn't seen them when he first installed
Beta 14, and in fact he started to create his own Common Folders.
However, the minute he tried to delete a message from within one of his
newly created Folders, TB! immediately created a new Common Trash Folder.

They are common folders outside accounts introduced with beta 14 (see

Understood. I dragged the folder Mailing Lists from the account where
it was lodged to the area above all my accounts, making it a Common
Folder. (I did this BEFORE your message came where the attachment link
vanished.) Your message above prompted me to scroll down my TBBETA
folder looking for messages with attachments. At each one a passed, as
soon as I focused on that message the attachment icon vanished. It
would appear to be a common folder bug.

This problem can easily be fixed with address book templates and it's
these address book templates that allow you to store discussion list
*anywhere* without worrying about incorrect sender addressing upon
replying.

Of course SMTP server limitations may create another set of problems
with sending mail via any account. But I'll always encourage those who
use multiple remote POP accounts and don't have access to a remote
SMTP server that readily relays messages, to run their own local SMTP
server. It greatly enhances your flexibility.

Thanks. That clarified it even to me :-)
I see this could be a point of discussion as I don't need message
headers when viewing HTML part of a mail (what is really seldom) but I
understand the request for it.

I would not call it a bug, other may do so, so I'd suggest somebody
sending either a bug report or a feature request regarding to this
issue :-)

I don't know, but my question was a bug tracking one. I was thinking
that the only way the attachment icon would disappear is if the link
to the attachment was somehow lost. Since I don't have the problem
while storing attachments within messages and TB! has to maintain
links with attachments stored externally, then a bug may have arisen
in the linking process. Something for them to work with.

That pretty much has to be the way it handles which account it uses to
send replies. This is important for mailing list replies, since if it
used a different account for replies many would bounce because sender
would not be a subscriber.

account properties for common folders

2001-12-02 Thread Dwight A Corrin

The discussion about 'Bug: Date/Time macros' and noticing that I was
having the same problem, also has caused me to focus on the notion of
editing account properties for common folders.

A large amount of the account properties have to do with interaction
with the pop and smtp servers and don't apply, but a large amount deal
with matters which do apply. Where do I go to edit the common
templates? Set the interval before messages are marked as read? Etc.

Common Folder Column Settings

2001-12-02 Thread Allie C Martin

Hi all,

For those having problems with common folders maintaining customised
column settings, I've realised that you can for the time being do the
following to retain your desired column settings.

Move the common folder into an account.

Disable the 'use default column settings' in the folder properties.

Make the column adjustments you wish to.

Move the folder back into the common folder area.

You have to do this each time you wish to change the column
settings.:-)

A nice little work around while we patiently await a fix from Ritlabs.

So you are saying that these common folders should be like virtual

linked to the accounts from whence they came?

While using common folders for the first few days, I never deleted
messages from any of them or replied to messages within any of them. I
did hit the reply button on a few to see how it would be handled and
the default account for mailto: URLs was the account associated with
