GE removing would destroy the structure of the messages.tbb.

I believe, TB! puts message into temporary file first and AV can catch it
there. My AVP did it, but I didn't try to clean this file, just deleted -
nothing was destroyed, I didn't get infected message and that's it.
And if you store attachments separately AV definitely can check it and
even clean it up with no problem.

Re: Virus protection

2001-12-17 Thread Maxim Masiutin

Hello Peter!

MM It's a major enhancement.

It would be, Max, if it was working. I downloaded and installed the free
version of Kaspersky AV for trying it, but TB! gives the response:
Cannot initialize plugin. So, what do I do now?

As about integration with Kaspersky AV, some components should be
properly registered before The Bat! can utilize it. We are now
working on the description what should be registered and how.

As about .bav-files, we are also working on the specification. As
soon as it will be released, third-party developers will be able to
  write their own antivirus plugins.

Dubious outcome of drag-and-drop

2001-12-17 Thread Alastair Scott

This may not be a bug, rather a feature :)

When I drag-and-drop a .MSG file (previously saved TB! message from
another copy of the client) into the folder tree a new message is
created with the .MSG file as an attachment (equivalent to F5 then
Alt-Page Up and find the file).

This is, in my opinion, pointless; what I expected was the message to
be copied into the folder. (Quite apart from being a more obvious and
sensible thing to do, it is also a much easier interaction than Tools
| Import Messages | From .MSG Files ... and find the folder that way).

Re: Ritlabs SecureBat! - bug report - Address autoview on top

2001-12-17 Thread Maxim Masiutin

Hello Marck!

The Address auto-view always on top option isn't optional. No
matter what the setting, the window is always on top.

Currently, the always on top in the address auto-view and memo view
is the global option. It affects how are these windows are ordered
among windows of other applications. Within The Bat!, these windows
are always on top, because these windows are tool-tip windows, and
they work like floating toolbar windows which are also always on top
as well. I guess the behaviour was the same in 1.53.

Hello David!

With the creation of a Common folders I moved the archive folder to be a
common folder. Now whenever I close SecureBat! and reopen it this folder
 disappears.

Thanks for reporting this bug, it did only appear in SecureBat!, not
regular The Bat! At least the messages weren't lost. This bug has

I have tried using ctrl + shift + alt + L (at least I think that is
what it was) but this did not help.

On Sunday, December 16, 2001, at 10:55:59 PM, I mentioned the following
in reference to Collapsing Threads When Closing Folders:

I notice an inconsistency when opening and closing Folders with
regards to the collapsing of threads.

I would like to add another inconsistency, and that is in the actual
threading itself. I thread on Subject, yet somewhere around 20% of
messages do not thread at all, despite the Subjects being identical.

What would cause this? The Subjects are letter for letter identical, so
I don't understand why SB doesn't thread them properly. shrug

I was wondering the exact same thing. If TB! has to save the message
to a temporary file before being able to feed the message to the
virus-scanner, the realtime-scan will already have caught the virus
and stopped the process. I hope RitLabs is not suggesting that I
exclude my TEMP directory from my regular virusscanner in order to
support the new feature (if and when NAV-CE gets supported).

Hello David!

 Is there one that does?

No, since the folder names are hashed, no sence to search through
them, the original folder names and hierarchy won't ever be
restored. In future, probably, we will implement search function
which will call found folders Lost1, Lost2, etc...
