3.0.9.19 bug: still hanging IMAP connections

2005-04-25 Thread Peter Fjelsten
Hello beta testers.

Trying to connect to the Exchange server here at work, I still have an
issues with hanging connections. I have 6 concurrent to the server
(Tested OK by TB!) but as it can be seen TB! still hangs sometimes.
When I delete the hanging task with "Delete", everything is in order
 again.

The message that hung should be filtered to another folder.

Attached is a 21 Kb GIF showing the problem.

Ctrl+P is not working

2005-04-25 Thread Peter Hampf
Hello tbbeta,

Ctrl+P (to print a message) is not working in the "View Folder" window
nor in the main application IF the focus is either on the folder list or
on the message preview window. It only works as expected if the message
  header pane has the focus.

  A known one?

Do you filter list traffic in this way? If so, then that's a lot of
filtering. The majority of my messages are filtered by the IMAP server.

I was having a similar problem but with .18. Not exactly the same, but
similar. My setup is like yours, where all filtering is done from the
inbox to various other folders. In the last beta, messages were filtered
but a few would get, for lack of a better term, "stuck". I would
have to click outside of the IMAP account (usually just highlight an
alternate account folder), click back into my IMAP inbox, and the
filtering would start again. Sometimes it would take two or three
attempts at this.

Oddly enough, filtering is ok for me now in .19.

From recent v3.0.9.x beta, this feature had been added. It's very convenient for
me to see the full name of folders when I navigate the folder hierarchy. But the
Unread/Total column would be out of the pane when I expand the folder trees. and
I have to scroll the pane to see these two. IMO, there should be an option to
turn off this feature.

IMAP: Inbox problems and more - roll back necessary

2005-04-25 Thread Allie Martin
Hi all,

I was having no problems with the latest beta until messages reached the
Inbox for filtering.

There's a serious problem with the Inbox and the filtering or whatever.

I have filters setup in TB! to move all messages from Inbox to my
Sundries or other folders. I usually don't browse from the Inbox.

A message just came in and it was stuck in the Inbox.

I selected the Inbox and nothing.

I eventually had to disconnect and reconnect for the message to appear
in the message list. However, it wouldn't open for me to read it.
Additionally, it's a message that should have been filtered to a special
folder.

I then exited and restarted TB! to see the message being filtered as it
aught to have done in the first place.

I could then read it from the target folder.

A short while later, another message reached the Inbox. It too got
stuck. I got it showing in the Inbox message list but couldn't display
the message body. I then exited and restarted. The message was filtered
though a copy remained in the Inbox. I couldn't read either of them.
When I tried viewing the copy in the target folder, TB! said that it
couldn't retrieve the message body because of a processing error.

I rolled back to the previous version which dealt with the problem
smoothly. Since then 2 more messages have reached the Inbox and filtered
just fine with v3.0.9.18.

Whatever was changed is creating a nasty problem there.

Confirmed to be working.

However, I emptied the cache of a folder that contains a lot of messages
with attachments. Some of the messages contained a number of photos
each. Many of them downloaded fully, though they exceeded the size I
specified in the IMAP tuning settings for not downloading attachments
when message size exceeds 50KB. Isn't that 50KB supposed to be a
cumulative message size and not a per attachment size?

You are right, "encoding" is the wrong term in this case, I should
have used "code page" or "locale" instead. I don't have a problem with
the font. It is the issue with the wrong code page used and therefor
wrong characters are shown. There were several issues like this one in
the past when some parts of TB! used wrong locale settings. In fact

It's not a wrong encoding. You have some troubles with font.
Every font can contain some language sections.
First of all Western - it must be in all fonts (except Symbols etc).
And you can have Cyrillic section.
Not all fonts contains such section.

Also there can be Arabic, Turkish, Greek and other sections...

If menu font contains Cyrillic section, so why used Western

You are using English spellchecker, are you?
This is the problem of the languages other than English.

Can't confirm.
Not with the current beta, nor with 3.0.1.33 or 3.0.2.10
In all versions I'm getting a new filter.

Cannot stop connecting to server - "delete task" or "abort" is broken!

When TB was connecting to server about 30 seconds (very slow server) I
did "delete task" or "abort". Unfortunately task was not ended and for
about 1 minute this message appeared:

2005-04-25, 22:51:18: FETCH - receiving mail messages

After 1 minute this task was ended. Please allow user to end task when
user want to do it. Simply terminate connection (make socket innactive
- brutal method) and it will be good. I think that for example OE use
brutal method (in any moment it is possible to terminate connection).

You are right, Alexander. Mea culpa.

The time I got my AV (so far the only one, thank God) TB was in tray. A
moment before, I had checked my mails, all were marked as read and no
new ones in sight -CC wasn't active. One account is set to manual
retrieving -so check boxes "check mail at start-up" and "periodically
checking each" are empty. I sent TB to tray after having pressed the
"unread" tab and right clicked the icon to see if any mails were in this
account when I sudden got my AV.

As stated before, I can't reproduce this. It happened once and hopefully
never again :-)

2005-04-25 Thread Gleason Pace
9Val,

> [*] Core : Socket work

Don't know if this change should affect the problem I have been having
with retrieving the IMAP folder structure from the server. But the
behavior is definitely changed this time. I do get most of the
structure now every time I start the program, except one folder with
42 subfolders never appears.

When I start the program for the first time, two folders will appear
at the bottom of the hierarchy under a separate inbox. If I close the
program and open it, there will be one more of these separate inboxes
every time (two extra the second time, etc). If I use the "Manage IMAP
folders" function, I get a correct folder hierarchy. When I close the
program and open it again after that, I will be back to having only
one extra inbox the first time.

Hello Mary!

On Monday, April 25, 2005, 4:08 PM, you wrote:

Spell checker works, for me, with American English selected.
However, it missed the extra "a" in "international," above.

I just ran a check with "German, new spelling" selected. Spell
Checker, again, picked up on all the usual (PM, XP etc.), plus it did
not like "Hello" and "Mary," which are not singled out with an
American English check.

I think the "International Pack" may not be in the right path, for
those who can't get Spell Checker to work. Just a thought, from an
old-lady amateur. :)

Cannot confirm, Spell Checker is working fine here. (I have put this
9.xx series since .13 directly on top of the contents of the v.
3.0.2.10 build; therefore I do have the internaational Pack; in case
that's relevant.)

Strange thing.
Now I often have frozen connection center.
I have 180 sec timeout at my account, but my connection can be long
over 10-15 minutes without any traffic.
I think that connection can be frozen for hours.

In older version my connections had to be disconnected automatically after
some minutes of inactivity (3 minutes I suppose).

For clarity, that is "Save Viewmode to..." and "New Viewmode..." It's
still present in 1.0.9.19. Moreover, menu items, tool bar buttons etc.
no longer work after this AV... I have to close (using x only) and
restart TB! Can anyone confirm? BTW, the viewmode isn't saved.

At least mark as read or unread work here.

Issues of "Group by date" mode

2005-04-25 Thread Marek Mikuš
Hello all,
I have some issues for this feature:

- I gave no unread messages, but group names "Today", "Yesterday",
"Last week" etc. are displayed bold.

- when I select group name and want to use items in "Thread" context
menu item like mark as read or delete, they don't work.

- sometimes I see number of total items like (2 total) or (1 unread
out of 5 total), but manytimes not, I don't know, why it is not
included allways, it is good to know this

- I like this mode, but there is no customisation for it, for example
I don't need group "More than one year ago", I want have all messages
older than month in one group etc.

- and BTW all strings (group names, strings unread, total etc) related
to this mode acn't be translated.

When I click Spell Checker and select check all text (with intentional

I can remember "bad behavior" with IMAP since V2 - sincerely testing

I can remember that behavior starting for me in 3.0.2.10 (or so,
multiple IMAP connections were just introduced) and remain constant
even when switching back to the stable release. But that didn't occur
here since 3.0.9.13. Speaking of that: just now this odd behavior
starts again in ..9.19 - socks tweaking? :-(

I have a lot of nested folders in this account, no problems the last
four weeks - only this evening my inbox get stuck again :-(

Never seen an AV with this IMAP account.

FWIW: this account is an administrator account and password protected.

FWIW 2. all folders are regularly purged and compressed via scheduler
- maintenance as I have limited memory on this server.

I've had this for a long time now with my old account in 1 specific
subfolder only, and it started appearing in my new IMAP account in the Inbox
(don't have any subfolders there yet). Before I started getting this AV, TB
would usually get stuck updating the IMAP account, and I had to first switch
to a non-IMAP account, delete all requests for the IMAP task (sometimes
there were hundreds of such queued requests, so I had to hold the Delete key
for a while to get rid of them all), delete the task itself (just deleting
the task without removing it's requests first didn't work), and switch back
to the IMAP account.

Cascading AVs in IMAP folders

2005-04-25 Thread Jernej Simončič
I've been getting cascading AVs using IMAP accounts for at least 3 versions
now. They always start appearing after TB has been running for a while, and
the only way to escape them is to hold Esc and click in another account like
mad (killing and restarting TB usually causes AVs to just reappear).

Here's the AV message displayed:

Ouch. I'm sure that'd probably be a good cause as to why TB kept
disconnecting on me. I have some folders that are over 65k folders,
I'm sure my IMAP server might take a while to start processing all
those files.

That's a difficult task to do. The UID FETCH 1:* is probably the
easiest way to do it, and doesn't really add too much of a load. If
you'll be performing a SEARCH, it'll probably take a lot more effort
on the part of the IMAP server (I have not been able to run a good
SEARCH on my TBBETA archive in a long while).

IMAP Fine Tune - Reserve One Connection...

2005-04-25 Thread Jonathan Angliss
Hey Guys,

Because I know my IMAP server, and I know the connections I am using,
and I know that the server, and connection can handle me running
multiple IMAP connections, I decided to enable 2 connections. Can
anybody confirm that enabling more than one connection does NOT allow
you to select the "Reserve a connection for mail retrieval"?

I have run the test several times in the event that it might be
required to trigger the box to be enabled, I have even increased the
connection count to the maximum it seems to allow (10), but it still
does not get enabled.

Unfortunately not all servers allow simultaneous connection to one

AV occurred: Address 00C8 in thebat.exe, read of address 0008.
