True. However this is intended as a convenience function for filter
creation and is selective. The issue in this thread is totally
different where the check box is not helpful. The discussion
specifically deals with deleting a folder referenced in a filter.
Ideally, when a folder is deleted with an active filter reference the
deletion should be disallowed and a warning message given pointing to
the filter(s) that reference the folder in question.

IMAP: Filters

2005-07-22 Thread Stuart Cuddy
Hello tbbeta,

I have been running a parallel IMAP account for tbbeta and tbudl
with my regular pop account to see how they compare.

Generally not too bad in the recent betas, but I have noticed the
following in the IMAP account.

I have it set up so that as it arrives in the Inbox it is filtered for

If from tbbeta color Red
If from scuddy color green
If to contains MTS.net color green
If tbbeta move to The Bat folder

In the my pop account this works just fine. In the IMAP account it
appears to work OK, but then after a while the color groups lose their
color change, at least the color group green. Initially the message
seems to be green, the nest time I look it is Red (or the color of
tbudl which is blue) depending on which group it originally belonged
to. It may also turn to black which is just the basic no group color.

Anyone else seeing this. I know that most are not using filtering
because of problems, but it is generally working here and IMAP is much
more stable on this system than when I first installed it back about
15 betas ago.

Confirmed, but I don't think you were experiencing the bug which has
been fixed in 3.51.9. I think not quoting the very last one is an
instance of an old bug which has been too elusive so far to track
down.

This bug has been around at least since v. 3.0.

It happens randomly and, also, for considerable stretches of time will
not show itself. Therefore, I say it is random and infrequent.

Making it all the worse, because one is lulled into skipping the
change to PTV before quoting (the only work-around that I know).

In some replies to messages, this omission of a Smiley leads to
misunderstandings that range from minor to serious.

I *do* so wish that we could hunt this bug down! :(

IMAP: Exclude folders from being (common-) filtered on?

2005-07-22 Thread Peter Fjelsten
Hello beta testers.

I have some common spam filters that I want to apply to my accounts,
including IMAP accounts. These filters move potential spam to a ...
 well, potential spam folder.

Sometimes the mail that has been moved there is not actually spam, so I
want to move it into my IMAP account again - but since TB! re-checks
that folder, it is moved to the potential spam folder again. Repeat ad
 infitum.

I know I can select folders to be filtered on for account filters - but
 not for common filters, right?

I would be neat if the Share With... of common filters also had folders
 for IMAP accounts. Anyone agree?

 Is it on BT?

I can't remember whether I made a BT report. At the time that I was so
upset about it, no one would confirm it.

Then, later, others (MAU here on TBBETA) and Curtis (on TBOT) ran into
it. We had some discussion, but I know that I did not go to BT with it
then.

Either Maxim or Marek--or one of the developers, I'd have to do a
search to say from whom I had the reply--said that it wasn't fixable,
for some sort of technical reason.

I'll try to see if a search of BT will turn up any report. I really
don't remember ever making one; I think if I didn't, it was because of
the reply from the developers.

Hello 9Val,

A reminder of what 9Val typed on:

PF Sometimes the mail that has been moved there is not actually spam, so I
PF want to move it into my IMAP account again - but since TB! re-checks
PF that folder, it is moved to the potential spam folder again. Repeat ad
PF infitum.

9 Hmm, what about setting colour group for message which is not spam
9 (using manual filter) and after that moving it. Filter, of course,
9 will check for spam AND default colour group?

But, see mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

This does not work if you only copy the last line.

Confirmed. And, in fact, I have been using that technique quite a lot
in my TBOT correspondence.

Occasionally, though, even that will fail. :woe:

Still, having that piece of information in the mix--it's never been so
explicitly demonstrated before, to my knowledge, so thank you,

When I get time this afternoon, I'm going to do a search of Bug Track

Again, thanks a mil for your input!

I hope it will turn out to be this way consistently. Then, we might
have a chance of eradicating it.

My memory of it is that occasionally in the past, smileys in the
middle of lines have been omitted. Although, I can't right now recall
a specific message as an example. Or, Smileys at ends of lines within
a paragraph where the full paragraph was quoted, were dropped.

But, can't be sure. I just have a strong memory of it's having
happened. Unless I dreamed it. ;)

Anyway, I can't thank you enough for taking time with it for me!

Hi Stuart,

SC If from tbbeta color Red
SC If from scuddy color green
SC If to contains MTS.net color green
SC If tbbeta move to The Bat folder

SC In the my pop account this works just fine. In the IMAP account it
SC appears to work OK, but then after a while the color groups lose their
SC color change, at least the color group green. Initially the message
SC seems to be green, the nest time I look it is Red (or the color of
SC tbudl which is blue) depending on which group it originally belonged
SC to. It may also turn to black which is just the basic no group color.

Hmm, perhaps found and fixed it.

Reminder: Buggy message list view persists

2005-07-22 Thread -=Curtis=-
Hi all,

The bugs that stand out during basic operations would IMO constitute
being a priority. A couple pictures would help here. It's awful that
your message list looks like this when reading a thread:

http://files.aimlink.name/before.png

when in fact, it should not have drifted to the left and instead, look
like this:

http://files.aimlink.name/after.png

The message drifting to the left in that fashion isn't a trivial
cosmetic issue.

I try to ignore it, but sometimes the subject column is almost
entirely out of view. I have to narrow the message list view pane
until a scrollbar appears in order to fix it.

This means that as large threads expand, they would make your subject
column nearly or completely take up the entire message list view area.

The limit expansion option prevents this and I have it enabled. It's
this option that's causing it. It's an old option that became buggy of
recently.

In the View Mode that is causing the problem, what do you have set for
the column widths. It is different for each column. My first column is
the subject and is set to 150.

Once I use threaded view and limit the subject column expansion, it
happens. The first column width doesn't seem to matter. I've tried
various widths hoping to let it not happen.

Don't know if this will help, just wondering what the differences
 may be.

I think it's just that you don't limit your subject column size.

Try to reply to this message by selecting the word confirmed and the

 to reply to selection.

Stuart, I did a search and found my BT report; the problem first was
fixed, and then recurred, so I had reopened the issue. Link:

 Is it on BT?

Yes, I've just done a search and found my report of October 8, 2004,
which was first confirmed as fixed, and then a subsequent version
broke it, so I reopened it on October 27, 2004.

I have just added a note that the bug is still present in v. 3.51.9.

 That does it.

Further, I did a Ctrl+C and then viewed the information in a clipboard
viewer and the smiley is not there either.

I am so very grateful for all this testing!

Would you perhaps consider adding a supporting note at

Hello Wayne,

I am fairly new to the list, I'm not sure what you mean. Is Robo one
of the developers? In other words, if this issue is being looked into,
then I am satisfied and I will stop posting about it.

Yes, he's a developer, I was told that he's working on it.

Re[2]: The Bat! 3.51.9 is now available

2005-07-22 Thread Vili
Hello Marek,

The Bat! 3.51.9 is now available from:

It is supposed to be a replacement of the currenlty downloadable 3.5.30.

Max, it looks good, but some things must be done yet:

 - You have stopped updating readme file with changelog?

 - why You changed welcome message with info about Lycos mail? Please
create two messages, welcome message is needed as I think for new
 users!

 - file TBUSER.DEF (TBUSER.EEF) in not backup and users will allways
loose they interface changes, when backup/restore, please think abou
 this.
 reported in https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=4818

 - new section Protocol logging in Account properties has still no
icon! Please add icon if You added new section, it looks very strange
 reported in https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=4957

 - buttons Change item and Rename don't work in Customiser, if they
should not work yet, please remove them until they will work!
 reported in https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=4958

I cannot agree with more with Marek.

For a released version these smudges should be fixed.
