Re: Dispatch All does not dispatch all

2005-08-11 Thread Goncalo Farias

In reply to mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] :

MS Hello tbbeta,

MS Can anyone confirm this: a message marked
MS [x] read, [ ] receive, [ ] delete
MS in dispatcher does not show up any more when dispatching all
MS messages.

MS Full story:
MS Just had a look into my pop3 mailbox on an exim4 server with another
MS client (nPOP) and saw some messages still hanging around. No problem
MS I thought to myself and did a Dispatch mail on server - all messages.

MS But only one mail was reported (one I sent to the list a minute ago),
MS the older messages did not show up. So I activated the pop.log in TB!
MS and saw the server correctly reports 35 messages, but TB! only asks
MS for the header of the last one:

MS [23:14:04] S: +OK Maildrop locked and ready
MS [23:14:04] C: STAT
MS [23:14:04] S: +OK 35 175917

MS [23:14:04] S: 2 4742
MS [23:14:04] S: 3 3023
MS ... and so on ...
MS [23:14:04] S: 35 3598
MS [23:14:04] S: .
MS [23:14:04] C: UIDL
MS [23:14:04] S: +OK unique-id listing follows
MS [23:14:04] S: 1 1088526495.12513
MS [23:14:04] S: 2 1088526495.12514
MS [23:14:04] S: 3 1088526495.12515
MS ... and so on ...
MS [23:14:04] S: 35 1088526495.12958
MS [23:14:04] S: .
MS [23:14:04] C: TOP 35 0
MS [23:14:04] S: +OK Message follows
MS [23:14:04] S: Return-Path: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
MS rest of the message header 35

MS All those messages were sent while I was on the road and I guess I
MS removed checkmarks receive and delete in the dispatcher for
MS those messages to download them later. But I remember seeing messages
MS marked like this when using dispatch all messages.

MS Just tried it again with another account (a webmail account at gmx
MS germany) and the same behaviour there.

MS This makes retrieving those mails impossible from withing TB!

I had a similar event, If I understood you correctly. I had 4 messages
that TB was unable to retrieve not matter how. One was sent by TB
itself.

I had to use Outlook to DL them, then upload them and only after that
TB was able to DL those msgs.

I was working with an Exchange Environment using POP3.

Not confirmed over here.

MS Already found a workaround: when I activate Account Properties -
MS Mail Management - Show all messages on server and check the account
MS normally, all messages show up (as they should).

Have you set the account to always use the dispatcher? This might be
the difference between you and me.

MS If I cancel dispatcher then and use Dispatch mail on Server -
MS all messages again the lost messages show up there, too,
MS suddenly, while they did not before the properties change!

My accounts do not invoke the dispatcher automatically, so this is the
only I use.

MS Mysterious.

My guess is that something goes wrong when the dispatcher is invoked
automatically according to the account settings (if that is your
setting).

Hey, that was a good guess: this seems to be the problem. Try this (I
just checked this here):

- set Properties...invoke automatically at each mail check on an
account you know has new mails
- check mail, dispatcher opens. Set only read for some mails
- use dispatch all messages: the mail does not show up even though
  it should
- remove Properties...invoke automatically at each mail check
- use dispatch all messages again: the message shows up

If anyone can confirm I'll look for / open a bug report

!) Invoke mail dispatcher automatically is checked
2) Show all messages on server is *not* checked
3) Leave messages on server for x days is *not* checked

List of mails did disappear from Message (Mail) Dispatcher window.

When I went back to my former settings, with show all messages and
leave messages on server checked, the list of mails did reappear.

 Answering a 1 day old message (Wednesday, August 10, 2005, 23:32)

 Good evening Martin,

MS Can anyone confirm this: a message marked
MS [x] read, [ ] receive, [ ] delete
MS in dispatcher does not show up any more when dispatching all
MS messages.

Hey, man, I am more than happy to see you posting this!

I have reported this bug AGES ago and wrote certain messages to Max and 9Val
 about this in the past.

There were some betas in between where it had been fixed (at least it seemed
so) - but in the current version it IS still present. I can fully confirm it
 (again!).

If the mail dispatcher is invoked automatically AND show all messages is NOT
checked, it does NOT show all messages if you press shift+ctrl+f2! It
suppresses those messages marked as read before.

That is a very good short form to describe what I needed so many words
for ;-) do you have the link to the bug at your fingertips, so I can
support it?

IMAP: No Message loaded semi-workaround

2005-08-11 Thread Matt Thoene

I have 3 IMAP accounts. Often times when I switch from one to the other,
I'll get the infamous No Message Loaded view that can last from one
second to a Task Manager Force Shutdown of TB!.

I recently noticed that if I'm stuck in the No Message Loaded mode, I
can hit the Configure Account icon and it will somehow kick-start the
IMAP session and I will notice the messages magically load behind the
configuration screen I just opened.

9Val/programmers...any idea on why such a thing would load the message?

Good day, Peter.

ViP I can say where dog is buried. There is necessary to remove extra
ViP CR/LF's before signature part when using GPG. I manually did that and
gpg: Signature made 11.08.2005 20:45:06 using DSA key ID E10774CE
gpg: Good signature from Peter Meyns

PM Why doesn't The Bat! do this herself? hmm

It was a sample, where this method works. But on some other messages
it failed...

Sometimes TB! takes a little time loading a message, especially the
first message on entering a large folder.

Definitely not a coincidence. I've tested it thoroughly over the last
couple of weeks. Should have mentioned that.

It sure does. Sometimes it takes so long that I have to completely
restart TB! to get it to load again. In my example above, I can clearly
see something happening as soon as my config screen opens. It's like TB!
is saying Oh don't go changing anything, I was just about to open
anyway.

It's more like TB! gets back from its deep sleep, thinking something
like *yawn* ok, ok .. i'm awake, really, i'm awake .. don't hurry ..
yeah, i'm up to it .. wait a second ..

IMAP's still a mess althouhg it developed well in the last months.

Since posting my last message, a few problems have occurred giving
perfect opportunity for me to test your method. It doesn't work here.

What works for me when things are stuck is a server
disconnect/reconnect operation.

Yes. Unfortunately with TB!, the issues with IMAP seem to be different
for just about everyone. I just happened to notice that the open
Configure Account trick is one that works about 98% of the time for me.

The disconnect/reconnect does work sometimes but it is sporadic.

Doesn't work every time here. Sometimes I really have to shut down and
restart TheBat! if I want to continue working on the server.
