certificate error

2008-09-29 Thread Carsten Guthardt-Schulz
Hello Tbbeta,

When connecting to our new mail server (mailext.denkwerk.com) on port 25, 993
or 143, I get the message that the server didn't provide a root certificate. I
can continue, but the error message pops up at each connect, with the add to
trusted button greyed out. I really don't get this, the certificate seems to
be ok. So I checked in Thunderbird and there it works fine, I can permanently
accept it.

Can anyone reproduce? Here is what the TB log says:

28.9.2008, 12:14:13: IMAP - Certificate S/N: 84FA03241087DC2B, algorithm: RSA

But The Bat's behaviour is still odd. Why doesn't it let me add the certificate

Hello Tbbeta,

Strange thing: since 4.0.31 I get this emtpy connection manager
window, where the window below shines through (actually the pixels
get stuck, i.e. when I move the CM-Window, the screenshot inside
moves along.

So whats missing is the list of sent/received mails. I already removed
the registry key connection manager to reset the position, no
change.

Anyone else experiencing this?

That's because the server didn't sent the certificate during the session,

So what can be done about this? Having to click OK each time you send/receive

message header counts size of selected tab in Preview, so if there is no
tab under preview pane, body is counted, if You have tabs, click to other
tab and its size will be counted.

In messages list, whole message including message source should be counted,
maybe You have attachments stored separately?

Up to version .7 you had two files for each folder (Inbox, Outbox,
Sent, any virtual folders, any folders you created, etc.). These
important files are named MESSAGES.TBM and
MESSAGES.TBI. The first one contains the messages, the second one is
an index file. Version .11 and later versions use a different index
file, which makes it necessary to convert the existing index file
MESSAGES.TBI to a new format. So the new index file will be
MESSAGES.TBN.

My question was, whether it is still necessary to keep the old
TBI-Files when the conversion is done. I guess they are not needed any
longer, except you might want to go back to version .7 or earlier.

IMAP Outbox Folder on my disk

2008-09-29 Thread Bob Riley
Hi Everyone,

In conjunction with using Windows Explorer to look for the .tbn, .tbi,
indices for version .11 (I haven't installed .12 yet), etc. I just
noticed (unrelated to the above) that for my one IMAP account (Gmail),
there is a HUGE outbox folder with 325 MB contents on my hard drive
(consisting of one each .tbi, .tbn and .tbb files). Yet, from within The Bat's
folder window for my IMAP account, the outbox folder shows no messages! And
in the Manage IMAP Folders window, no outbox folder even shows!

So what in Heaven's name is the content of the 325 MB of files in the
Outbox folder under my IMAP account? Is it possible that TB is
putting all the server contents from Gmail's All Mail folder in
there?

I am very puzzled! And of course, can I safely delete those 325 MB
files (one .tbi, one .tbn and one .tbb)?

Is this a bug in the TB implementation of IMAP for Gmail?

Slow shutdown speed is back again...

2008-09-29 Thread Robert van der Hulst
I just noticed, when I tried to install the latest beta on my machine,
that the slow shutdown times for Tb are back again.

It takes literally minutes for TB to disappear from memory (and to
release the EXE file) after the last 'maintenance screen' in the
shutdown cycle has been hidden.

I am not sure in which version this was reintroduced, but I would not
be surprised if this is somehow linked to the new index format.

One difference with the previous slow shutdowns, is that Tb allows you
to start a new copy of the program before the old program is removed
from memory.

MessageBase:
4 accounts
472 folders
15 virtual folders
300 thousand messages

This also happens when starting Tb and shutting it down immediately
(without retrieving any messages)

The TBI files are the Indexes of the Message Base, if you delete them
when you reopen TB! it will recreate them always.

Innstalled and running.

All seems perfect here using OTFE with iKey1000.

I don't found any *.EBN and *.TBN file on my TB! folder. But I deleted
the TBI Converted value from the registry.

I just noticed, when I tried to install the latest beta on my machine,
that the slow shutdown times for Tb are back again.

I concur. It is noticeable at Voyager, too.

I noticed this in the .11 Version already, which i needed to kill by

When I view an email and have it automatically mark as unread (set to mark as

The only way I can get an email to be removed from the ticker is if I
physically double click to open the email as opposed to just viewing it.

WARNING: Folder properties dialogue in .11+

2008-09-29 Thread Stefan Tanurkov
Hello All,

There is a problem with changing folder properties in last Betas
which cause losing(? - at least I'm yet to find where the messages
go) folder contents. So, please be careful and do not change your
folders before the next Beta which will be out today, I believe.

Yes I know what you mean. I think I only lost a few messages
in TBBETA and TBUDL, not in other folders???

Again I am glad I am doing regular backups!
