I thought I'd try printing an HTML message. Chose the daily email with
headlines from NewYorkTimes. Hit print, and a second or so later,
crashed completely. power off, the whole bit. haven't tried to
reproduce because of how long it takes to boot back up

The New York Times daily email which I crashed with at that time (9
October) is now deleted, but I just tried again a few minutes ago with
another NYTimes daily email which has not been deleted. I can confirm
that it still takes a long time to boot back up, because it crashed my
system again. No blue screen or warning, just a black screen, crashed
box. I don't know which one I tried to print, since position doesn't
survive a crash, but I am parking one now, so I'll know which one it
is.

OK, the attached message has brought my vista system down twice
tonight when I tried to print it to fineprint. Another message like it
did the same thing a couple of weeks ago.

It prints fine to the same printer on my xppro sp3 machine.

hope that helps.

I'll wait until next virus definitions update (maybe today) that

First Click eaten by Editor Window

2008-10-31 Thread Martin Schuster
Hello Tbbeta,

Hope I manage to explain: when you set in the cursor in the mail
editor window somewhere, set the focus to e.g. the subject field, and
then click again in the editor (not where the cursor was before, but
somewhere else) the cursor stays where it was before you clicked in
the subject field.

This might be by design, I could imagine some people would not want to
have the cursor replaced but rather continue where they were. But for
me this is the source of constant errors and deleting: sometimes I add
another addressee or change the subject, then notice a typo in the
text and click there and start to type...but the text gets typed
somewhere else then.

So I would like to know how many of you would prefer it my way and how
many would like to keep it as it is. Depending on this I would file a
request for a change or a request for a preferences option.

when You move focus from headers to body, template with macros is

 is defined in a template.

Hm, hope I get you right, but when I move the focus from header to
body the cursor is NOT placed where I defined it in the template, but
where I finished writing before I clicked on the subject header.

So I do not think this has something to do with templates.

Will have a look at %MODIFYONCE though, looks like something useful.

Hello Stefan,

 Bingo! Thank you!

Does that mean, that you found the problem? Because I've been testing
a little bit and I found some interesting things (well I think they're
interesting...)

1) Physical printer Canon MP6000 Printer, connected via USB with a USB-Hub
between PC and printer, gives a blank page in all situations: a)Printing
when message is highlighted in message window, b) cursor is placed in
message preview window, c) message is opened.

2) Virtual Printer Microsoft XPS Document Writer (comes with Office
2k7, I think), gives XPS-Filesthat can be shown in Internet Explorer : Same
results as stated in 1)

3) Virtual Printer Microsoft Office Document Image Writer (comes
with Office 2k3, I guess... never used these two before...): In all
three ways a), b) and c) I get a black and white TIF-picture of the
Mail, when I set TIFF - Monochrome Fax in the extended properties.
When I set MDI - Compressed Document Format the results are like the
ones in point 1).

System: see signature

Hope, I could help. Questions and comments welcome.

Best regards,
mse

The problem is - this bug cannot be reproduced on our printers, so we

But you did change something, of course - because the Problem is

1) Kyocera FS-820 Laser BlackWhite over Axis 560 TCP/IP Box

2) Brother DCP-315CN Multifunction Scanner+Inkprinter, connected over

3) Easy Internet-Fax, Easy-PDF, and probably also Easy-Internetletter

Re: 4.0.34.17: Change in Main window Status bar

2008-10-31 Thread MAU
Hello Marek,

yes, it is wide enough, but d is hidden because size icon in right bottom
conner, when You maximize window (for testing purposes), You will see
 missing d :-)

That's because when maximised, the little triangle in the corner to
resize the window is not shown. When shown, the 'd' is 'covered' by the
triangle.

TBBETA Mission Statement

2008-10-31 Thread Marck D Pearlstone

Greetings Beta Listers,

This is your monthly message from the moderation team to remind you
of the primary purpose of this discussion list.

To review the list rules, follow the link at the end of this message.

Before posting a question to the list, please check The Bat! User's

TBBETA Mission statement

The TBBETA list has been set up for the purpose of discussing The
Bat! officially released Beta test versions and related issues. For
general topics of a more simple nature regarding full release
versions, refer to TBUDL. For more complex topics refer to TBTECH.

An 'officially released' beta version is one which has been
announced *by RITlabs* on the TBBETA list, usually with a list of
changes.

Simply send messages to tbbeta@thebat.dutaint.com to send it to
the whole list.

See the notes at the end of this message for details about how to
manage your list membership or to leave the list.

It would probably be a good idea for you to set up a folder to keep
TBBETA messages in. If you do this, the next most useful thing to
have in place is an automatic filter to move mail from your inbox
into your TBBETA folder.

Set up a filter for incoming mail which looks for:

Header Field [Reply-To] Contains [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The Roguemoticon Project

It's nice to see your contact's face in the header ... and for them
to see yours. That's what roguemoticons are all about. If you wish
to add yourself, then you'll need to visit this site
http://www.pcwize.com/thebat

What this place will do for you is to allow you to create an
account, add your image and then let you download a .ZIP file
containing all the files you'll need to be able so see people's
faces without having to send or receive any real images in any
messages.

To trigger the roguemoticon display in the message header for anyone
reading your message using TB, you have the choice of using the
X-Rogue: header or a signature trigger.

How to use a signature trigger
The image is triggered by a 'Handle' you've defined in your
account, and when that Handle appears in a message it gets
replaced on the client side by the corresponding image. A handle
could look like anything you want it to look like pretty much.
For example:
:Marck_Pearlstone:
Just add this text to your standard message signature block.

How to create the X-Rogue: header
You can do that with this macro:
%SetHeader('X-Rogue',':your_handle:')%- in your templates for
this and other tb-lists.
However, the macro alone won't do the trick.
TB'll say: 'Hey, that's not any RFC822 header I know about', so
you'll have to define it as such:
Options .. Preferences .. Messages .. Message headers .. 'Add'

Now you'll get a pop-up to define the header

Display as: X-Rogue (or whatever, it isn't very important)
  RFC header: X-Rogue
Uncheck: 'This field is an address list' (because it isn't)
Check: 'Allow this field to be edited in the message editor'
Uncheck: 'Display this field in the scrollable part of the
  header pane'

Now you're done and every TB-user can see your lovable face when
they've installed the roguemoticons.

For you to see peoples faces:

To get this going, you should be running TB! v2.12 or later. Fetch
  the following file:
  http://www.pcwize.com/thebat/smileys/rogues.zip

Unzip it to the 'Images' directory that's in your TB! installation
  directory: C:\Program Files\The Bat!\Images
You should now have a directory called 'rogues' containing many
images as well as the file 'rogues.msl' in your Images directory.
Go into the preferences, and bring up the View/Editor options. Now
hit Shift-CTRL-Alt-T while TB! is in focus. This will re-fetch
TB!'s smiley set from disk and load the new images.
