This beta would convert .tbi file to .tbn automatically without any query. Is
it by design?

It would be much easier if it would not even use the registry at all.

Problem copying contact with international characters

2008-12-13 Thread George M. Menegakis
Hello,

Please see the attached images. The first contain the original contact and the
second the copied contact.

This doesn't happed with CTRL drag and drop (the contact is copied without any
problems).

The problem maybe lays where TB tries to import the clipboard. These are the
contents of the clipboard when I copy this contact

This problem exists also in 4.0.39.37

Usable feature : Backuping registry for restoring them back

2008-12-13 Thread Marek Mikus
Hello,
in the past, there were some cases, when TB's registry were lost
completely, last case was error in database of Spyware Terminator in June
this year, which removed whole registry path of The Bat! as false positive.

In current version, when TB is installed and accounts are detected on drive
during first start, it offers to use them.

Why can not be this done in same way with registry?

TB will save registry to file on every exit of program (like it can be done
manually (regedit /e thebat.reg "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT\The Bat!")
and when will be TB installed and there will be no registry tree detected,
TB will try to detect this file with backuped registry and offer user to
use it like when it find accounts.

What You think?

The same way as when you're restoring them with a public release.

IP> I am trying to restore a backup made by version 4.0.38 to version

As has been mention before on this list, the current betas use a
different message base format, so restoring a backup with the old
message base format won't work.

You should try this:
Uninstall TB
Check in the registry whether the all TB stuff is gone, you'll find it at:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RIT
Install 4.0.38
Restore your backup
Extract the executable of 4.0.39.39 on top of 4.0.38
